Is it just me or do we seem to like to give up a bunch of runs in the top of the first? Not a good trend especially when we start playing better teams...

Hunter is still trying to get back into form, so it’s been rough for him in all his starts. The bad trend is the continued high rate if those "unimportant" Ks. 13 more today, like 22 in the first two games. And, overall not against the best of pitching. |

It has only been recently that we have allowed runs in the first inning at all, like since our return to Goss. Twice to NDSU and once to CSUN. I suspect weather to have been a factor for at least one of the NDSU games. And CSUN is an a quality team. |

The Beavers need a third starter. Hunter is obviously struggling. If May doesn’t return, one of the young guys might be the answer. 4 ugly starts by the guys with experience is not promising. The bats have bailed the starters out, but as it has been noted, the Beavers will soon be facing much better arms.

I don't know if they will continue in a starting role, but this year, we have the bats to back up their pitching, so we can kind of afford to let them work it out. |
