I’ll eat crow. He’s done a great job this year. Broke the downward trend he was on for the past couple of years.

There were a few on this board that said, or hinted, that the game had passed SR by. Hope we won't need to listen to that for a few more years.

Between covid, the portal, and a couple disgruntled players the program had to weather a few bad years. Last year showed a lot, even through a tough season the players managed to smile. If the environment within the team turned toxic as some claimed there wouldn't be any smiles.
Keeping Talia and AJ and adding in a couple good recruiting years did a lot for the team. I also think that the coaching change had something to do with it as well. I've seen a lot of smiles coming from that end of the bench. Aleah was a very positive player and she brought that to the team. I've seen more coaching from the bench this year than before. Mandy and Katie talked to the players going in and coming out but it was more like checking in with the players. Aleah is focused on the point guards with the occasional talk with the wings.
Rueck has done an amazing job of turning the program back around. He has developed a group of very positive players that are very close. He deserves the award and the only reason Tara won the pac12 version because she broke the wins record and she deserves it as well.
