Second half featured the fastest, rebound-to-front-court play I've ever seen at Gill WBB. Long, sometimes daring, passes. Mostly complete.
Push that moofoo! Watch it on TV and Dono is running full speed but has the instinct/basketball IQ to get her feet right for the lefty lay-up... with no dribble.

Rae certainly looks none the worse for what she's been through. You wouldn't know looking at her and hearing her talk that anything out of the ordinary happened 2 weeks ago. Also, after today's game the case for starting Dom (18 min, 4 pts) over AJ (19 min, 12 pts) is not quite as compelling as it might have seemed before. And one last intriguing stat. Raegan Beers - 29 minutes, 0 personal fouls. And they tried hard to draw fouls on Raegan. A couple times the ref just looked at them and shook his head. Raegan took a couple small shots and one solid smack right to the mask and didn't even flinch, that is one tough player.

Play of the game has to be Raegan knocking the ball out, Dom picking it up. Pass to TVO who passes it up court to a streaking Raegan for the fast break lay up.

Yes that one. You could feel the buzz going through Gill. In my opinion that play set the tone for the game. From then on it was off to the races. Cal kept up by shooting 50% from three in the first half but they couldn't maintain that pace in the second half.

An obvious observation but it’s devastating to an opponent to have such an efficient 5 paired with an inside/outside 4 threat like Timea. Opponents have to choose whether to double Rae with their 4 or keep her close to Timea at the perimeter. Pick your poison. Case in point Funny thing in this clip. Check out AJ - once she sees Beers spot wide open Timea for the kick out, she knows it's over and heads back on defense. Before Timea even receives the pass. Makes me smile.

A little misleading Werebeaver to just compare pts scored between AJ and Dom---let's look at a few more stats: Rebounds--Dom-5, AJ-2, Assists--Dom-4, AJ-1. In my mind both of these players were equally responsible for helping our team win today. Now if AJ could play and score this way more than once a month we wouldn't be having this discussion! By the way thankyou for mentioning earlier that Martha got in the game---this was a much needed gesture by the coach to keep her happy and engaged and contributing in practices as we head into the NCAA's. I'm sure he would like to do this more often for her but the games have been so tight and competitive in conference that he hasn't had the opportunity to play her.

Indeed it did seem that Beers did not get called on fouls she was getting earlier in the year. Picks that have the defender run into her and send them flying when she is indeed set but just a wall to run into. Other times her quick hands getting all ball were also honored. Hopefully refs have figured out how to not punish a player that’s uniquely able to do unexpected things.

Looks like all you have to do to get some "love" from the refs is to first have your nose broken in 4 places.

I didn't say there wasn't a case for starting Dom. Just saying that case is a little less compelling after this game than it was prior to. Thing I like about Dom is her aggressive nature. She knows she's out there to score or assist - to make something good happen on offense. Her errors are on the side of action rather than caution. Every game seems to polish off the remaining rough spots. Her development - as a Freshman - from where she was at the start of the season to now is impressive.

I haven’t looked it up, but this game seems unusual in the starters scoring enough alone to win. It helps that Timea started, but TvO also went very unusually scoreless.
I do like having a change of pace coming off the bench, and Dom does that with her slashing game, while Lily and Adlee immediately stretch the floor.
AJ is unique in that she is a midrange threat, and really the only one that does this consistently (although Rae and Dono also have proven effective in this range). I have wondered if AJ’s midrange game is a big part of her starting, as it punishes overcommitting to defense of the 3 pt line.
