I had been a skeptic as the season started about this team meeting the hype and expectations, especially the pitching.
Eight games in and I am ready to buy a one way plane ticket to Omaha on June 13th. Scoring more than 9 runs a game and a team ERA of 2.09 it looks like Canham and Company have restored the program to greatness. Watching Segura today was the clincher. Any of you out there have an idea he would be this good?

The key is Mays.
If he's out, our path gets a lot harder IMO. Arkansas showed that against top competition in the postseason, we can't always outhit the other guys. Losing our ace means every day's pitching gets a little less effective.
Let's hope he's ok.

Good points by both of you. If May is done, it's a big loss. Segura looks legit. Talavs, another frosh looks good so far. Pen is looking pretty solid.
It's a great start for sure, and Omaha is an obtainable goal for this team. A lot will have to go right for that to happen, obviously. It's exciting!

Ive been pretty bullish since the player interviews talking about pitchers. Been pretty sure just offense would get us to hosting.
I think we're going to be most vulnerable on Fridays but midweek and Sat/Sun are going to be brutal for other teams. We faced some good pitchers in the first two weeks and only 2 provided lockdown pitching (Bakersfield's Ace and the Monster from Arky). May being healthy helps Friday and the bullpen a ton.
I think we end the regular season with 8-14 losses and tear through the post season. We don't look amazing for single game matchups but for series I don't see many teams at our level.
The offensive depth is also wild. Hell we Kasper and Macias came in and hit at like 600!

Any of you out there have an idea he would be this good? Going back to his junior year in HS when he visited an OSU camp, there were some comments I read after the camp. It's been a while so I don't recall the exact quotes but things like his ball is "different" and coach you have to come watch this guy throw.. That instantly put him on my radar and I have been patiently waiting for his debut ever since. Chinmusic and Easyheat posted some stuff about him on the recruiting board and I posted some articles I found from his junior and senior years. Watching his first appearance in Surprise was a long time in waiting to confirm what I had hoped. Some of his pitches yesterday looked like they had an inside break on righties. Batters looked bewildered by it as they got rung up. Love what I"ve seen so far from Segura I'm nicknaming him Sugar.
