Beavs are showing some pride and fight in this one. Where has it been all year? I really haven’t seen a lack of fight or effort all season. They just haven’t been very good this year. Were very good today.

Pope, Bilodeau, and Rataj are solid players. What ever happens to Tinkle I hope to see those three wearing Beavs unis next year.

The last time that Oregon State won at Maples, the Beavs won the next road game, lost a game, and then reeled off six straight.

Now 2-40 in their last 42 road games Before you get scolded... 2-40 away from Gill. Some of those are "neutral" sites. We don't want to misrepresent WT's record! 😉

Watching the game in person, there were a lot of really strange things and the Beavs won by 12
We are slow Stanford got a lot of homer calls in the first half and it was called pretty even in the second. We are bad defenders (the number of wide open shots and inside players getting to the basket on us is staggering) KC was still hurting from the mouth shot at Cal. But his 7 minutes were good.
Stanford had zero interest in rebounding, there were a dozen times 3 beavers were all alone and any 3 could have grabbed the rebound uncontested.
We won because we executed shots in all 3 phases (FG, 3pt, FT) Mike and Tyler combined for about 40 points on offense and gave up about 50 on defense. Some of that is due to guards getting beat in the perimeter, but they are just so often out of defensive position.
Like every win in conference this year, when Tyler and Mike get a bunch of points we win, when they don’t we lose.
The Beavs are incredibly young compared to most pac 12 teams and it really shows, I’d love to see this team together next year but I highly doubt it will happen.

It may not feel like it, but Oregon State's three-point defense statistically is one of the best in the country. It seems like it is very good, but, when it is bad, it is awful. The only other statistic that Oregon State does comparably well in is free throw shooting. KC looked like that shot to his mouth against Cal hurt him bad, and he got hit in the mouth against Stanford, which cannot help. Chol stepped up well, though. Oregon State won the rebounding battle 37-22! That is the first time that Oregon State had a rebounding advantage of more than one since Arizona State, another win. The time before that was USC, a third win. (Arizona won the rebound battle, but 60% three-point shooting fixes a lot of problems.) Before that was Idaho State, Utah Valley, Cal Poly, and Davis. (UTSA won the rebound battle, but Oregon State had its third-best three-point shooting night: [1] Arizona, [2] USC, and [3] UTSA.) The only other time that Oregon State won the rebounding battle by more than one was Linfield. Oregon State won the rebound battle against Appy State 39-38, exactly one. Troy outrebounded Oregon State, but the Beavs won it with defense. When was the last time that Oregon State was more experienced than an opponent? 2022? It seems like it has been awhile.

I wanted to add, because I did not include it in my previous post, but Dexter Akanno is a great defender. It is just that he almost always has to neutralize the other team's best guard. Center play has been poor. KC is still at least a year away and Chol is mediocre at his best in most games. If you could keep Bilodeau, Pope, and Rataj around for another season, Oregon State could be a force in the West Coast Conference. Hopefully, it all clicks for KC or NDong. And a senior Akanno. The Beavs could be quite the team next year.
