Better article with much more info on ESPN now www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39563282/cfp-unanimously-approves-5+7-model-new-12-team-playoff"Washington State president Kirk Schulz, who represents the Pac-12 on the board, told ESPN last week he would confer with Oregon State president Jayathi Y. Murthy and "be ready to vote" on Tuesday. Neither school can qualify for an automatic bid as a conference champion in each of the next two seasons, so Schulz conceded the seven at-large bids would be more beneficial to them than the original proposal of six conference champions and six at-large teams. That format was proposed before the Pac-12 lost USC, UCLA, Washington and Oregon to the Big Ten; Cal and Stanford to the ACC; and Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado to the Big 12."

Be fun watching them chase the format. We going to 4 when the ACC explodes?

Be fun watching them chase the format. We going to 4 when the ACC explodes? When the ACC explodes do we bring Stanford & California back to form a conference with other regional schools? Or do we pass and make them play as independents?

Cal is fine, always nice to have a bye week.

My favorite of the 10 is Cal. They are one of two former Pac-12 teams that have agreed to play Oregon State home-and-home. I would love for Cal to come back. Take them back in a heartbeat. If we have to take back those cardinal-wearing knuckle-draggers at Stanford to get Cal to agree to come back, we take Stanford back, as well.

WE would take them back, yes. Would they come back? depends on what the newly formed league looks like and who is in it. Cal and Stanford will hold their academic standing above all else, even football.

Cal and Stanford will hold their academic standing above all else, even football. Stanford holds their academic standing above all else, when it suits them. They seem to hold their noses and schedule San Jose State a lot more than a team, who really values academic standing would. Cal is like Stanford's fun cousin. I hold Cal in much higher regard than Stanford as an athletic institution.

They both will go to the Big12 before they ever come back to OSU/WSU MWC. They didn't go to the big12 with the corner schools not because the big12 didn't want them, but because they didn't want the big12. They aren't going to come groveling back except in some peoples weird fantasies.
If the ACC explodes look for ND to the big10 and ND to drag Stanford with it. Cal to big12.

At the end of the day, I believe there are too many television sets that tune into WSU and OSU games for this to be a long term deal. We may play mostly current Mountain West teams, but the ultimate televisión money will look like Baylor, Texas Tech and Kansas dollars.
