Can’t take Washington for granted. They beat USC and lost to Stanford in OT. Right before the Stanford game, they lost at home to Utah and Colorado by 18 and 23. They got swept by Cal AND Arizona St. this year. They have won 2 games in 2024. Current 6 game losing streak and have lost 8 of 9. They aren't good, I have no idea how they beat USC. I'd rather go into the game with the mindset that your opponent is damn good and have to play accordingly regardless of the record. Otherwise you get your arse beat.

Every team in this conference can beat OSU, especially without Beers. I went to the game in Eugene--they easily could have lost that game, and without Beers likely would have lost big. A sweep this weekend would be a massive accomplishment. Hope she can play soon.

When will sports leagues start using the common sense approach of any time a time-losing injury is brought on by some action that the officials call a foul on, the fouler is ineligible to play for as long as the foulee is medically unable to play?

I'm assuming you mean technical fouls because that kind of penalty on a common foul would never fly.

So, we have all moved on from the play that broke Raegan Beer's nose and now agree that it was an unintentional flagrant 1 because somehow Rice's right elbow found Raegan's face and nose unintentionally. Someone please explain to me how it is not intentional when a player shoots a left handed layup with their right arm up and bent and elbow extended toward the defender's face and then lifts that elbow as the shot is completed. This is what I saw after watching the replay several times. IMO I remain convinced that the foul should have been elevated to a flagrant 2.

When a player gathers themselves as Rice did, it’s easy to grab the ball strongly with both hands as she did. The result of this was that her elbow was slightly extended. Unfortunately, Reagan’s face was in the line as she went up. I know everyone wants to assign blame to this, but contact happens in basketball and sometimes it’s an elbow to the face. Looked like a basketball play to me.

I'm curious, for the people who've insisted that this is just a "basketball play", then why isn't basketball full of people with boxer noses? Because if you are right then ordinary basketball should end up mangling a lot of players.
It seems pretty clear to me that Rice was trying to screen her ball from Beers. And I think ref's need to make clear to players that this is NOT acceptable and toss anyone who does it.

The topic of Raegan's Injury certainly shouldn't be talking about her injury, how absurd of me. My apologies for disturbing your delicate sensibilities.

When will sports leagues start using the common sense approach of any time a time-losing injury is brought on by some action that the officials call a foul on, the foul er is ineligible to play for as long as the foul ee is medically unable to play? So you want basketball without any defense? It’s a physical sport, not tiddly winks. You could have a common foul where a player lands normally and blows their knee out. It happens. You can’t punish players for playing the game.

LOL... you weren't talking "about" her injury. You were spouting blame on how it occurred. It was a basketball play, and looked at from all angles. There was no intent. If you encroach a players "space" stuff happens. Especially a taller player vs a shorter player... shorter raising up vs taller... or taller turning into shorter. There is contact in hoops and not all of it is a foul or with intent. And, if it would have been TVO vs Betts you would have been arguing the reverse As for her injury the true scope is unknown. Most hope she isn't rushed back as a broken nose combined with hitting the floor and possible concussion is serious stuff.

Additional argumentative posts are redundant and tedious. But by all means, go ahead and ride your hobby horse.
