I was at the game today. Saw her before the game, looks in good spirit. Then didn’t see her at all for the 2nd half. Hope that she is okay. She looked to be in good shape from what we could see on the video board. Hopefully she will be able to go next weekend

One thing I found weird after raegan was injured, fell to the ground, and then staggered off the court it appeared at least on tv not one player, assistant coach, or head coach went to see how she was doing. Certain things about that crazy game are already a bit of a blur. But she went down just to the right of my seat (behind the OSU bench) and I do recall Scott walking over briefly to Rae while she was on the ground, he appeared to have a very brief exchange with the trainer Jason Liew. I couldn't tell/can't recall whether or not he was able to say anything to Rae. This was probably while TV had gone to a break. Anyone else in attendance remember anything similar - or am I just hallucinating? I was in the cheap seats, but If I recall correctly, Reuck went over briefly and then left her with the medical staff, presumably to let them work, particularly since there was no shortage of blood afterwards. They may not have figured out how bad it was at that point yet as Raegan was still face down and at times the way her body moved on the floor seemed consistent with sobbing motions, which is understandable given how bad that had to hurt, and that she needed help walking afterwards.

After seeing Bob Huggins interacting with a badly injured player in the final four which seemed both caring and creepy to me, I’ve felt differently about what the right thing to do is for a coach in that situation when medical staff are right in it. I have no doubt Rueck cares a great deal for Raegan, but I also expect a spontaneous response of concern, so I didn’t get a great feeling on this situation either. Intelligently I know that’s not the right judgement from me to even consider the Rueck wasn’t deeply concerned. Also, some people black out at the sight of blood, so it’s a bad idea for anyone in that condition to get involved.

Not sure what kind of drama you were expecting to see from them but if you were watching on TV you missed it. Susana and Sela, 2 of Rae’s teammates helped her off the court and into the trainers room.

The coaches are told to stay away and keep the kids away, for reasons that should be obvious. I saw a nasty injury in one of Tinkle's practices and they did exactly the same thing. Trainers took care of the injury and practice when on as if nothing happened. Not much was said, but the kids seemed to understand.
At the gymnastics meet last week, a gymnast went down in the warmups. Pretty much the same protocol, although it was Michael Chaplin that carried her to the locker room.
I don't know how specific the OSU policy is, but all the coaches are clearly on the same page.

A source close to the team shared on Sunday that the coaching staff is hopeful that Raegan will be able to play in Washington (one or both road games).
My guess is that Raegan will be attempting to get used to a protective mask this week and will be kept out of any contact drills in practices until further notice. Just getting used to shooting, breathing hard when sprinting, and seeing the court effectively with a clear mask on takes some adjustment.

This is exactly what I would’ve expected for “only” a broken nose, but it’s good to get some inside confirmation.

I'd guess they'll use her as sparingly as possible - if we're in control of the game, sit her down; if they make a run, put her back in. But it's all speculation right now. We'll know on Friday night, and not before.

We'll know on Friday night, and not before. Both WSU (Fri) and UW (Sun) are legit teams that are more than capable of handing OSU a road L. WSU defeated UCLA at home. Yes they lost Leger-Walker in that game but they've got talent and experience. We'll want Beers to keep Murekatete from dominating inside. UW beat USC at the Galen Center, leading wire to wire. How a team can beat USC and a couple weeks later lose to ASU is a little baffling. But they're certainly capable and have a good complement of >33% 3pt shooters.. If Raegan can go, then we don't want to be "resting" her. She's in top shape, and we need these W's.

If anyone has had a broken nose, the associated pain when it's even lightly pressured knows a mask isn't much "protection".
A mask eliminates a lot of frontal pressure. However, masks slip with sweat and slide on your hair. If so there is risk of side to side movement and a re-break. Masks aren't fool proof and a bitch to get used to.
The team has/needs to learn to play without her. I'm not the team physician (nor stayed in a Holiday Inn) but depending on the break, if sinus cavities were involved, let her practice. Have her get used to the mask, have the nose set for two weeks and not risk her being less than full strength the remainder of the season.
A split on the road isn't terrible. Having her re-injured would be.

I agree. Give her more time to recover. We can beat UW and WSU with the crew we’ve got. Everyone needs to step up. Can you imagine the atmosphere at Gill if they would have put the elbow replay on the jumbo trons?

Lily, Timea and Adlee need to have break out games. WHEN they do, it’ll send a notice to Raegan that she doesn’t need to return before she’s ready. This is a deep team!
