m Until Bazzana is a #1 draft pick and multi-year all star, Gold glove winner, has a couple Triple crowns, and few hundred stolen bases, on his way to the Hall also! and we will share the legend of watching them both.

Ok, I’ll be the contrarian because it’s an interesting discussion. Adley joined a team as a freshman that had an all-time recruiting class the year prior. As a freshman in 2017, his job was to learn the art of catching an experienced staff and not even worry about hitting. Especially in the unbelievable 2017 season, he was as important as a full time catcher can be to a team. In 2018, he grew to be a leader on the team and lead the pitching staff. Make no mistake, Madrigal, Grenier, Larnach, Kwan and a bunch of upper classmen pitchers led that team to the ‘17 and ‘18 CWS. Adley legit won the CWS MVP, but… The greatest Beaver baseball player ever joined a team with very little, putting his faith in Pat Casey and a dream when he started in 2003. His signing with Casey out of Madras helped set the stage for an epic in-state pitching class the following year. By his junior year, he led his team, including freshmen and RS freshmen with names like Barney and Canham, to the promised land of Omaha for the first time since the Truman administration. He won OSU’s first PAC POY in the unified conference and was its first 1st round MLB pick in over a decade. And if professional success is your thing, he has 2 World Series rings and was a runner up for AL MVP in 2011. If you want to weigh MLB success, Adley still has time to overtake him, but until he does, OSU baseball’s all-time greatest (and historically most important) player is Jacoby Ellsbury.

Yea, valid point. I love the Ellsbury story. Too bad he couldn't stay healthy in the bigs dang it! Also, he was robbed of the MVP in '11 Adley did have a better college career.....one of the best college careers of any player, ever. His 2018 is incredible. CWS MVP, along with setting a record with 17 hits.....caught Abel's game 3.....National player of the year.....overall #1 pick in MLB draft after the '19 season. And so far, his majors trajectory is pretty great. All Star in '23, and he arguably is the biggest reason for the Orioles turn around. Adley's intangibles like leadership, make him extremely valuable to a ball club.

Glad I read entire thread before posting. You basically said what I was going to say. Given their positions and differing skill sets I wouldn't put one in front of the other, more side by side on the "best Beaver" list. Jacoby also earned: All Star Appearance Gold Glove Silver Slugger 3 X AL stolen base leader

First, let me say that I don’t like articles like these. It’s a team sport, and Adley’s success as well as Jacoby’s rests on the shoulders of many.
But everyone knew that Adley was special as soon as he walked on the field. He paid attention to all the intangibles. I still admire the way he ran out to meet the pitcher after the third out. He was performing at a pro level as a freshman.

Since Adley and Ellsbury came from different sides of the Cascades, how about Bwest and Beast

I would imagine that he is a Hall of Fame customer at any financial institution he does business with. Definitely at the right place at the right time. That contract, what was it...all I remember is it was 9 digits at a time when that meant something.

That contract, what was it...all I remember is it was 9 digits at a time when that meant something. Are the Yankees still paying him? Apparently, in 2022, there was some kind of settlement before the 2021 season kicked off to allow the Yankees to keep one of their picks in the 2021 MLB Draft. The terms of the settlement are unknown to me. So, the answer to your question is maybe?
