Touching 97!? Dare I say, the next RANDY JOHNSON! Seriously though, that kid's got a big arm. Looking forward to what he can do the rest of the year.

Ya, you could tell he was throwing straight heat, but 97 for a true freshman in their first outing is impressive. I don’t think it’s a stretch to think, with two more years of development and strength training at the collegiate level, that he will be a possible triple digit heater guy by the time he is out of here. He absolutely will need more than a fastball, but you are at such an advantage as a pitcher with that kind of gas. He also seems pretty confident with his off-speed in this interview. On a separate note, and not sure if anyone can answer this, but why isn’t there a mph meter at the ballpark on or near the scoreboard? There isn’t one anywhere at Goss for that matter. Clearly OSU staff has a gun to track that stuff, but it’s pretty common to show mph somewhere at baseball park nowadays.
