George may be around for a while yet… doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be the face of the league. Great episode. George can't be fired, because of his one-year contract, but Play Now keeps trying to make things harder and harder on George. In the end, George is offered half of what he is owed, but he won't take it. And George, with Kramer's help, eventually accidentally bankrupts Play Now and screws himself out of any severance. It is still in George K's interest to see that Oregon State and Wazzu work out and that the Pac-12 makes money. Hopefully, George K does not Costanza the thing up.

No one at OSU or WSU has the balls to "pay him off" and send him packing. Certainly not at full-price. That wouldn’t be ballsy, that would be impetuous, wasteful and foolish. You could put him in a room with no window, limited computer access, and a phone that can only receive phone calls. Also a mop and a bucket.

No one at OSU or WSU has the balls to "pay him off" and send him packing. Oregon State and Wazzu sued the Pac-12 and weathered a unified defense by the 10 turncoats and the Commissioner. Oregon State and Wazzu do not lack the balls. We have 'em, big brass ones. There is either a negotiation, or Oregon State and Wazzu are content to let GK twist in the wind, while his contract runs out, waiting for GK to do something clearly fireable. He's not twisting in the wind...he's representing the conference on multiple levels.

What the article doesn't mention and wish someone would... is GK getting fired? Is there a negotiation going on? When might it happen? JC has mentioned several times he's talked to every Pac12 member in some form. And none want him around. He mentioned recently, and again tonight, GK doesn't really want to be around. Yet GK flew back to DC to meet with other commissioners and Charlie Baker today. So, why? He's a dead man walking. He has no conference say. He doesn't represent OSU & WSU. I'm guessing the Pac12 is paying for this trip? Again why? As far as I can tell he makes $3.5 mil per. Meaning the Pac12 owes (one of the agreed shared liabilities) him like $8 mil... or under $700k per school. Why not make him leave now. He's doing zero for anyone. Next... does OSU & WSU need a commissioner in the short term? Can't the two ADs, Presidents, or appointees deal with the "conference" issues for now? Or keep a deputy commissioner (yes we pay for those too right now) on for a significantly lower salary that does the day-to-day grunt work. Anyway, I love this to be settled and get GK as far away from the Pac2 as possible. No one at OSU or WSU has the balls to "pay him off" and send him packing. I was lucky enough to be in a suite for the Husky game that the new OSU President visited. I am quite sure she not only has the "mental balls" to send him packing but also the intelligence and savvy to know if and when to do it.

Do it on the Pac-12 Network during a spring game.

Fortunately for all of us, nobody at OSU or WSU is an emotional fan, like the lot of us. They are taking purposeful and logical steps in this nightmare. We all just want our pound of flesh. Ain't nothing to do with balls or courage, and everything to do with the continuation of what we have seen: Thoughtful, strategic moves in the face of a crisis brought on by 10 other teams not making thoughtful, strategic moves.

They don't "officially" leave the conference until 8/1/24. Of course, since we control the network, we are under no obligation to broadcast them. They probably have not been contracted already, unlike softball and baseball games.

They can speak afterward with them, but anything "live" promotes a breach of contract.

Alternatively, if we are in charge of the network, benefit from it, and want to use it as leverage, we should start thinking like business people. What will draw ratings, and potentially attract interest?
