Wilner has been pretty excellent at covering the Pac. His reporting here echoes the opinion of several of the posters here. (shout out grayman )

I saw it on the Mercury News site but it's behind a paywall. Again, I say that we should keep our eyes on what happens with the ACC. And today's news regarding Florida State FSU loan as well as more upcoming action FSU wants out (this a month old article but lays it out really well) really seems to point to an exit by FSU ASAP. I believe FSU is going to wind up paying to get out but the cost will be far less than the 500-plus million number as that will most likely be found to be unenforceable. What happens with other teams will remain to be seen but I believe we're getting close to a fork in the road for the conference. North Carolina is working to keep UNC and NC State together (which, frankly, is a good sign that things are getting intense for other ACC members).

What the article doesn't mention and wish someone would... is GK getting fired? Is there a negotiation going on? When might it happen?
JC has mentioned several times he's talked to every Pac12 member in some form. And none want him around. He mentioned recently, and again tonight, GK doesn't really want to be around.
Yet GK flew back to DC to meet with other commissioners and Charlie Baker today. So, why? He's a dead man walking. He has no conference say. He doesn't represent OSU & WSU. I'm guessing the Pac12 is paying for this trip? Again why?
As far as I can tell he makes $3.5 mil per. Meaning the Pac12 owes (one of the agreed shared liabilities) him like $8 mil... or under $700k per school. Why not make him leave now. He's doing zero for anyone.
Next... does OSU & WSU need a commissioner in the short term? Can't the two ADs, Presidents, or appointees deal with the "conference" issues for now? Or keep a deputy commissioner (yes we pay for those too right now) on for a significantly lower salary that does the day-to-day grunt work.
Anyway, I love this to be settled and get GK as far away from the Pac2 as possible.

(shout out grayman ) It will be interesting to see who Wilner focuses coverage on next year. The ACC, since the Bay Area schools are there? All of the old Pac-12 schools? Just the California schools for football, add in WSU & OSU for the other sports because of the WCC deal?

Basically says the 2 schools may still need him for a while. That issue may take a while to sort itself out.

THE ACC grant of rights of all members is to a media company (ESPN). Much harder to reduce those kind of contracts and payouts than an exit fee to a conference. NO real precedent here. www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39161391/florida-state-vs-acc-grant-rights-lawsuit-questions-answered Getting som popcorn

ESPN will most certainly not pick up the option on the ACC in 26 or 27, which is what FSU is looking at.

That wouldn’t be ballsy, that would be impetuous, wasteful and foolish.

Moves by OSU and WSU this far have been shrewd and calculated. I don’t believe they lack the balls to fire him.

Oregon State and Wazzu sued the Pac-12 and weathered a unified defense by the 10 turncoats and the Commissioner. Oregon State and Wazzu do not lack the balls. We have 'em, big brass ones. There is either a negotiation, or Oregon State and Wazzu are content to let GK twist in the wind, while his contract runs out, waiting for GK to do something clearly fireable.
