It will have to be one heck of a travel budget, a whole lot of midweek games, and a lot of internet classes to have an RPI productive schedule. Imho. Assuming we CAN make all of the weekend series work, we should have opportunities for more/better midweek games as B1G teams come in to play hole for weekend series. Could be a lot of symbiosis with hole schedule for each team to poach mid week home games. Of course B1G baseball might be a step down from the WCC. B1G #6, WCC #18 per Warren Nolan 2023Big West turning us down hurts. That #10 spot would have been real nice.

This may have been discussed already, but why is the big 12 not an option for baseball? Do they not care enough about the sport? It seems like a good fit. Already some former Pac 12 teams. Adds a ton of prestige, and RPI potential to the conference. And it theoretically allows our program to keep hummin along. Maybe the current power baseball schools in the conference don't want to deal with us? They don't need us. Or have any interest in traveling out here. They are supposedly looking into adding Gonzaga and Connecticut for basketball. Not sure how different that is than adding OSU for baseball only. My preference would still be Big West even over Big12, but if neither isn't possible, I think the independent route makes a lot more sense. More work setting up the schedule, but I think they could still field a schedule fairly easily with some good opponents.

The WCC isn't the best fit for many of the reasons above. But, for many others it's the best choice out of... what? Two. As I've and others have stated a conference schedule and conference title bets you to the post season. With the addition if OSU I believe that gives the WCC 10 baseball teams? That's 27 conference games, plus conference tourney. Plenty of room for a quality NC schedule. And much much easier to fill 29 games vs 56. The WCC has losing records as they mostly schedule "up" VA better competition. Other than select years and this year in Texas, OSU has not in the NC. WCC is the best fit for now. WCC has nine teams. Oregon State and Wazzu added on would make 11. It would be like the Pac-12, just seven teams in California. Some great spots in California, too. And Stockton, as well.

OSU will not join the WCC in baseball, not now, not in two years.

But, as you stated nice spots and 30 game schedule with only 26 to fill. And, truly can end up with a strong schedule Iif you want to travel some) with more opportunity for a variety NC powerhouses. Still have UW, Oregon, UCLA, SC, Furd, Cal, WSU, ASU. Arizona as possible NC opponents... meh on Utah. With several Cali trips it is easy to fit in the former Pac12 Cali teams midweek. And, if you get the timing, OSU could easily can get some of those teams in Goss... I mean UW , SC, UCLA will be playing weekend series in Eugene. Anyway, we'll see what happens. But, building out an entire 56 game schedule around other conferences is going to be very difficult to get all the pieces for a decent SOS.

FYI, it was just announced that Oregon State would play as an Independent in 2025.
My guess is they ultimately want to build back the Pac-12 in some form beyond that.
