It really difficult when a perfect example in hoops already happened at OSU. I believe some may say the program in the worst shape ever(although not a $ maker) was the WBB pre-Rueck. Not even enough for a roster! And although a small school he seemed "pretty" successful and could have had other jobs. But, even as an alumnus no one thought the WBB could reach the heights it did. Seems good coaching is good coaching. (Not that SR doesn't have his own issues atvtimes) There are hundreds of Scott Ruecks out there. And, only those prone to histrionics and no sense of reality would pretend otherwise. Scott Rueck inherited a mess of a team that had recently huge drama, yet it was just 1 year removed from a 20 win season. It had not been downtrodden for 24 years. 🤣 |

What does the past have to do with the present? That's nothing but excuse making for ineptitude. Does any good program with a downturn then just accept a "crap" program. "Crap" is a strong word, but people keep trying to use bias data samples to justify a crappy record. Every season counts when looking a program 9+ season along. The program is in the 3rd year of poor recruiting and play after an E8. WT's "history" is all that matters when judging WT. If you truly are addressing the present, you let the present play out. If, at the end of the season it still lookd dire, fire with all barrels. I believe mid-season firings, and talk of firings in mid-season, should be based on misconduct. In my book, support the team through the season is the "right thing to do". They don't need the noise, and that includes noise supposedly directed at the coach. If you/your other identity hadn't gotten kicked off the board a couple years back it would have been interesting how you'd have squared the 8 win season as of Feb 1st with the Elite 8 run. Let's see... was it a comparison of which program was down longer or there are quality coaches out there in the dozens? Was there mention of mid-season, or any firing? |
