You have to take that timeout on second down before two minutes. Otherwise, you give the Lions the time to craft up something like they just did.

A good coach can have a bad game.
McVay's body of work proves this simply isn't true. Hell the fact they were even in the playoffs proves this isn't true. McVay is a top 10 coach in the NFL right now without debate. and with hearty debate, he is arguably a top 5 coach.
I personally see it right now as:
Harbaugh
Reid
Tomlin
Belichick (based on the fact I am 99% sure he is coaching in Atlanta next year)
Shanahan
Lefleur
Dan Campbell
McVay (#8 for me, but you can easily argue him higher)
Vabrel (I know the irony of him getting fired, but the Titans are morons as so was their GM that gave AJ brown away for a half eaten sandwich and then drafted Malik Willis. He has willed a sorry ass roster to more wins than losses consistently)
DeMeco Ryans (probably needs to climb this list, but anybody can have a magical year. Sustainability matters, but he has been really impressive)
Just outside is McDaniels, but he has a little bit of that beat up on bad teams, can't show up against good teams vibe. That said, I think he is innovative and has something good going on. Adapted well to a lot of injuries this season.
I think Steichen will end up on the good list sooner than later. needs more than a year but it was a good year.
I hate the Browns too much to objectively rank Stefanski. he is a good coach, but... the Watson thing, which he vocally supported, is not a good look. so do you get points for overcoming your own part in one of the biggest blunders in NFL history?

McCarthy average at best and underperforms with all star rosters
Sirianni looks pretty exposed. I get it is hard to lose both your DC and OC, but man, they suddenly are running a HS offense and defense fell off the map. But it is not great when your stud OC goes on to look really impressive rebuilding a disaster of a team in his first year.
