Packers head to San Francisco to play the Niners next week. Hopefully, the Packers win into the NFC Championship Game. Hopefully, the Lions and Eagles win. At this point, I am rooting for the Packers to play in the Super Bowl, the least annoying team of the six teams left in the NFC. Says you. I mean they are less annoying without Rogers, but not a fan of the ol cheese heads. I like Dan Campbells Lions.

"America's Team." Has there ever been a more arrogant tagline in the history of American sport? But... weren't the Braves that first? I loved those teams. Plus was fortunate to hang out at 3 pre-spring training camps on the late 80's, early 90's. WTBS wasn't even a thing until August 27, 1979. 1982. America's Team II. The Braves really did not develop to the Cowboys' level of success until the early 1990s.

I'm guessing "first" in my mind was based on who I cared about more!? Never have really paid attention to the Cowboys as a team. Loved Calvin Hill though! Lol

I'm a Cowboys fan......I grew up wanting to be Tony Dorsett. I don't really give a s%#t anymore. Not a Jerry Jones fan. He built the business but he pushed some fans away such as myself. That Lions crowd as they won, gave me goosebumps......that was cool. And I'm pretty big Dan Campbell fan. He is Jonny lunch bucket. I'm sure his players would run thru a brick wall for him. I hope they kick the s%#t out of the eagles or buccs..... especially if they get the eagles ....they are the worst!

The Lions win was great, but I’ve always been a fan of players that went around a brick wall! Increased longevity.

That's funny because I remember watching Pete Rose have his hit streak ended by Gene Garber on TBS in 1978. And I remember watching a ton of Braves games on replay late at night long before 1979.

Yeah... found this: "The Braves debuted on TBS in April 1973. Three years later, Turner took them national." And... "A landmark event for WTCG occurred on December 17, 1976, when Turner uplinked the station's signal to the Satcom 1 satellite for distribution to cable providers throughout the United States; as a result, Braves telecasts began airing nationally with the 1977 season."

Loved the days of TBS and WGN as a fan of the NL in the 80s. For one or two seasons, we got TBS, WGN, and WWOR (Mets), so I got to see a lot of Reds games in those years. I was bummed when both TBS and WGN took away the Braves and Cubs games, but it was a nice run. When I retire, I'll probably pick up the full MLB.tv package, and my full-time job for 6 months of the year will become watching baseball.

LOL... just remembering older draft conversations!! Got to retire relatively early and try to make a trip every year to at least one park/series. If my partner in crime like watching (it is her last choice for in-person viewing) I'd do a fly/roadie to several parks I've not seen in person. Maybe will convince her if it includes some "perks"?? KInda boring solo, and my son works so...

I want the Packers to roll San Francisco mainly because they have an OSU player on their squad. Now that my Steelers are out of it any team with an OSU player is the team to root for.

Henry SkrimshanderTBS was not a thing until August 27, 1979. TBS was actually originally owned by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology up until that time. Ted Turner purchased TBS from MIT in May of 1979 for a "donation" of $25,000 to a group associated with MIT, in order to allow MIT to purchase a new transmitter. Up until August 27, 1979, what would become TBS was called "Channel 17," "Super 17," or "WTCG." That December 17, 1976, date was when Turner took his channel beyond Atlanta to the Midwest and the rest of the Southeast. I have no information as to when it expanded to actually be able to be viewed on the West Coast.

I'm not sure if I'd want to visit EVERY ball-park, but I could see a road trip to hit several parks over a couple of weeks as a fun plan.

It's ok... some do
