One thing that seemed to be a constant source of complaints in this past season's OSU football game threads was all the missed tackles. I recently watched the latest BeaversEdge podcast on Youtube that was mostly about players the Beavers have landed in the portal. But near the end of the show they brought up the missed tackles and said that Oregon State was ranked dead last nationally in missed tackles. I knew it was bad but if true, that was a huge drop off from what I saw as a strength of the 2022 defense. If the stats they cited are correct, the Beavers missed more tackles (170) than they had assisted tackles (165). They pointed out that Sione Lolohea had 19 missed tackles and Easton Mascarenas-Arnold had 20. Maybe this wholesale rebuild isn't so bad after all.

Some of that is gonna still be with us. #21, whoever he is, had some bad misses in the bowl game.

USC had 170 missed tackles in the 2022 Pac-12 Championship game alone.

I like this defensive staff a lot and I think they’ll be much Better next season. I have a lot of high hopes for this side of the ball.

Michigan put on a clinic on tackling against UW and Alabama, particularly open field, one on one tackling. Saving yards each play and stopping YACs adds up over the course of a game.
