The footprint of the new hitting/weight facility in center field is now visible on the web cam. It's going to be larger than I thought. webcam.oregonstate.edu/baseball

1. What's with the graying-out of the area behind the "National Championship" sign? What are they hiding.
2. Nice that they're getting the facility but the location sucks. What does it matter where home plate is located and for how long? What this program really needs is for the field to be moved as close to the sidewalk as possible so the infield seating can be expanded and/or double-decked.

When a recruit or new player steps into the left hand box, they know they are standing in the exact same spot as Adley, Conforto, Melton, Larnach, etc....stood before them. Not close or near, but the exact same 12 square foot piece of real estate. Sacred ground, both right and left side.

Not really sure it matters but that's what they do. Moving the field would have no impact on capacity unless you want to build an entirely new stadium. What needs to happen is for the entire grandstand above the concourse to be demolished and replaced with an entirely new, larger, taller structure that top-loads and has a press box/suites structure from one end to the other. You can't go back because of fire-lane codes/restrictions between Dixon and the stadium, so you have to go up. You want to pony up the $20-30 million that project would cost, be my guest.

Years ago, before the field was grayed-out, it was nominally possible to follow a non-televised / non-streamed game by using the webcam. I did it several times myself. Admittedly, quite lame. Sometimes the most revealing 'tell' was simply seeing the outfielders run toward their dugouts as out #3 in a given inning occurred.

They built it to be double decked when we get the money.
