One of the reasons I love this board is I grow in my knowledge from all of you; much appreciated. That being said, watching nfl last week and this week I am impressed with Tyrod Taylor's skill set. What keeps him from being a starter?

Unresponsive steering and uneven tire wear? I had an old 1 ton Dodge van with the same problem.

What keeps him from being a starter? He is a middling game manager type QB. Same general tier as Teddy Bridgewater. He doesn't lose games, but he also doesn't win them. He doesn't make the big plays on a consistent level. As a starter in his career he is 28-28-1. the model of mediocrity. He tends to be a check down passer and doesn't take risks pushing the ball. hard to win like that.

What keeps him from being a starter? Does not have a big arm and is small? Since then, he has had injuries to his non-throwing shoulder, MCL, knee, groin, etc. His best days are behind him, and his best days were not that great. Out of Virginia Tech, he was projected to be a great backup, maybe developing into a starter down the road. But he never developed and injuries were a big part of that.

He also had the misfortune to be on the same team as Josh Allen, then Justin Herbert. He's never, ever going to play in front of those guys, barring injury.
He found the perfect storm with the Giants. Daniel Jones and Tommy DeVito both suck.

If he had been available for the entire season when Jones went down, maybe he could have proven he still had something left in the tank. 57 starts in the NFL is nothing to sneeze at. He's one of the better back-up QBs in the NFL.

What keeps him from being a starter? He was a game changer until injuries piled up from scrambling. He's increased his accuracy in his old age but his mobility is much reduced making him a middle of the road guy. If he could still move like he did his first two seasons with his current accuracy and decision making he would be a top QB in the league.

Unresponsive steering and uneven tire wear? I had an old 1 ton Dodge van with the same problem. He needs to strut around a bit more...act like a king pin...

Can't imagine a punctured lung is helpful in any circumstance. This weird site rates players durability and tracks injuries. www.draftsharks.com/fantasy/injury-history/tyrod-taylor/4785The ones that really derailed him early were the Knee issues and concussions. Both lead to him scrambling less to protect himself (rightly). Another key was he got drafted by the ravens and was stuck behind Flacco for 4 or 5 seasons. He got a chance to start in Buffalo in 2015 and earned a pro bowl ticket.
