Did you watch many, a few, or none? What were the one's you like most?
I'm a sucker for bowl games (this year may have changed that to "was" a sucker). I watched quite a few thanks to the ability to call recorded version up on my timeline. Only five games made my liked list for quality entertainment and competitive affairs:
UA vs OU USC vs Louisville Air Force vs James Madison UM vs Bama UW vs UT
I looked forward to watching the Georgia vs FSU game and managed to avoid finding out the score before I started it, game was already over when I watched. Once I realized FSU was without so many starters, the game lost a little luster but I kept watching until halftime and by then it had lost all luster so I turned it off and found something better do. There were other games I did the same thing for and for the same reason. I did self terrorize and burned my eyeballs through the entire Sun Bowl.
Bottom line for me is, if I start to lose interest in so many bowl games, there's a serious problem. I'm one who has normally watched as many as I can, and to the end of the game if it's competitive. or the team I want to lose is getting thrashed, or the team I want to win is doing the thrashing.

UGA coach called it out as a serious problem. I think, eventually, we're going to get a 16, and then 24 team playoff in "FBS", and the Bowl games may just peter out of existence. It's obvious that the current format is NOT working.

It's obvious that the current format is NOT working. It is an interesting discussion but a 16 or 24 team playoff you will have to cut the number of regular season games and/or eliminate conference championship games. This is what FCS did an 11 game schedule and no conference championship to allow for a 24 team playoff.

Honestly, there were more good bowl games than bad. There were only about 11 unwatchable bowls, and the Sun Bowl was one of 'em. The other ones were the Myrtle Beach Bowl, New Mexico Bowl, Independence Bowl, Boca Raton Bowl, Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, 68 Ventures Bowl, Music City Bowl, Orange Bowl, Citrus Bowl, and Fiesta Bowl. By and large, the bowls were great, as usual. New Orleans Bowl was insane. Both of Jacksonville State's starting quarterbacks went out with injury for parts of the game, and Louisiana scored three defensive touchdowns. In the end, Jacksonville State won on a walk-off field goal in overtime. Famous Toastery (Bahamas Bowl but played in Charlotte) Bowl was great. Western Kentucky's starting quarterback opted out. And their backup was trash. Old Dominion led 28-0 with nine minutes left in the second quarter. But Western Kentucky came back to tie it at 35 on a 15-yard run with 19 seconds left. The Hilltoppers blocked a 47-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to stay alive and then blocked a second 23-yard field goal in overtime. Western Kentucky then won on a walk-off 29-yard field goal. The Gator Bowl was a classic. 42 points in the fourth quarter! Eight lead changes. Ridiculous! Highly entertaining. Arizona Bowl with Wyoming's fourth quarter comeback was great. The Cowboys' starting quarterback was knocked out with a rib injury. And Wyoming still found a way to turn a 15-6 deficit with nine minutes left into a 16-15 victory on a walk-off 24-yard field goal. Reliaquest Bowl was phenomenal. 998 yards of combined total offense. LSU showed that Jayden Daniels was a stupid over-rated clown. Garrett Nussmeier was 31/45 for 395 yards in Daniels' stead. LSU overcame a 28-14 Wisconsin lead with 26 minutes left to win 35-31 on Nussmeier's third touchdown pass with 3:08 left. Almost no defense. Very entertaining to watch. Tons of great bowl games.

Some stinkers in bowls, but there always some stinkers in bowls.

This is what FCS did an 11 game schedule and no conference championship to allow for a 24 team playoff. Regarding playoffs, maybe I've had an epiphany. For now I'll assume four power conferences and six (group of five) lessor conferences. 12 teams get in from the P4 and 12 teams from the G6 conferences. The bracket has four quadrants. Three quadrants have only P4 teams and each team has to win two games to reach the semifinals. The fourth quadrant is the G6 teams. The winner of that bracket is the G6 champion and is in the semifinals with the three blue bloods. For the G6 quadrant, to go from 12 teams to one team means some byes. If you eliminated the byes, that quadrant of the bracket has four, eight or 16 teams. I like the idea of the non power conferences teams to have their own thing and still have a shot at taking down Alabama. What do you think? What's better for OSU? 1) Having a rebuilt PAC being considered a power conference (or a B12 invite) and getting one of those twelve slots in the three power brackets? (I'm guessing 60 teams are considered power) 2)A reverse merger and getting one of the eight or twelve slots in the G6 bracket? I'm not sure what I would want.

I'm so glad you mentioned the Arizona Bowl, not happy with you for also mentioning the outcome(booo). Somehow I missed that bowl and thanks to your mention I watched it last night. The commentating and production by Barstool Sports was hilarious. Probably not for everyone, but the announcers heckling players for making dumb plays was kind of like watching with a group of buds. The game was about as competitive as you could hope for with a great finish. .
