I hope we are interested... but something tells me that him going in a little late means that a bigger school has been contacting him. I thought he was very good this season and he definitely gave Arizona one of their best seasons in recent history.

We all know schools/programs cheat, but no contract is allowed until a player officially enters the portal.

I think he’s a head case and would stay away.

Yes, we all know that.... rewind to Bray's press conference, guys are getting calls every day behind their backs. Yes, contacting is happening... suddenly hitting the portal after it being open 3 weeks and practicing for a bowl has contact and $$$ written all over it.

If it's $$$ then OSU isn't a possibility for that level of QB. Also could be an honest evaluation... coaches, parents, etc... that needs no longer "the guy". And, with limited eligibility left the portal is a good option. And, very, very, very few get $$$. JDL is not one of them.

JDL's 226k and new truck to drive is something...... so much in fact he had to pay more in a settlement due to his NIL.... www.kold.com/2023/09/21/tucson-lawyers-confused-about-de-laura-settlement-being-tossed-raises-questions-about-nil-involvement/

It will be curious if the renewed focus on his previous actions will affect his ability to find a new school. He could become a pariah now that it's been brought up again.

From my understanding the $226k is word of mouth with zero documentation, before injury and replaced as starter, from a biz entity not a school NIL, truck is not his only available to use. "More"... which again is unknown as the original agreement is sealed. I only posted to state: a) players can not be contacted by any official school entity before entering the portal; (b) JDL is not a big $ QB; (c) there are hundreds of NIL "promises" that aren't fulfilled. The NIL is just another avenue the rich get richer and kids need to be very wary.

Not being a jerk, but it would be good for you to do some research on how NIL works. The school does not pay out any NIL for anyone... the collectives are from donations from supporters - not the school. NIL comes from businesses and outside entities from the school. 226k is his valuation based on a, formula that is used (see article below). "More" actually is known - see the article below. Once the courts found out he was making 8k a month in 2022, the judge increased (more) the settlement. Of course school officials can't contact a player -that's not who is contacting them. It's 3rd party from the program that wants them - such as boosters and others who are offering NIL money - Once again, see the Bray interview where kids are contacted daily - not by schools or reps from the schools, but by a 3rd party that can offer the NIL to go to that school. NIL promises are actually contracts that are signed - it's not a handshake that can't be fulfilled. It can be broken by the player because under rules, they have to fulfill a service of some kind in return for the NIL money. You can think what you want of JDL, but your earlier comment that JDL is not one who is getting money, is very false. New Dodge truck was given to him to use for the season - that's still an NIL value. Last year in 2022 his valuation was 178k. It increased this year in 2023. Once an NIL deal is signed, it gets paid out even if you are injured. The injury would affect the next year valuation. www.on3.com/nil/news/arizonas-wildcats-football-jayden-de-laura-tetairoa-mcmillan-jim-click-auto-nil-deal/Tax records show he was making 8k a month in NIL deals in 2022 and expensive gifts such as a new car. Once again this was in 2022 -not 2023. wildcat.arizona.edu/149684/news/s-de-laura-settlement-rejected/

I know exactly how NIL works. Lol... I just explained to you it wasn't $226k, nor was that amount from a school NIL program. And, the use of a truck is calculated into the monthly "gross" NIL.
I also know the NIL valuations are a crock. No one pays much attention to them.
Have a great holiday

Fresh meat on the hoof. Would Gunderson be interested? A player with a future and a QB with a past. /photo/1 No thanks Every game I have seen him in, he yells at his receivers on the sideline. He plays hero ball and there’s a reason he lost his starting job. Let some other team deal with him.
