I typically don't pay much attention to recruiting. I do follow UI sports on the side because I went there for a couple of years back in the 80's when Don Monson and Dennis Erickson were the FB and Basketball coaches. They have a small message board (Allvandals) and I learned about Gevani's move from that board. FCS teams are resigned to talented players portaling out so less of a FTG reaction than a "wish him well" response. At any rate, that's really the only reason I posted it. I figured once a guy commits, he's not really a "recruit" any more. But I'm sure folks will pick that apart as well. That's kinda what we do around here. Especially after the regular season is over. has he signed an LOI? Transfers from one 4-year school to another do not sign a LOI. They sign financial aid agreements. Only prospective student-athletes who are enrolling in a four-year institution for the first time sign a National Letter of Intent. Student-athletes who start their academic career at a four-year institution and then transfer to a junior college may also sign a National Letter of Intent if they plan on entering a second four-year institution.

Given that, when is is permissible to mention committed transfer players on next year's team on the main board? Is there a one-month "cooling off period"? As noted above, if we wait for a LOI the answer is never.

And, they can still back out of a financial aid agreement. They are not official until the first day of school for that quarter/semester.

NLI is a little confusing... 4-yr to 4 yr transfers do not sign an NLI. Also, the playing season does not fulfill the NLI - they have to finish the academic year at the school. Junior college transfers do sign an NLI, but there are specific guidelines as to if they had previously signed an NLI or not. Basically our JC transfers are signing and our 4 yr transfers are not.
