I was looking ahead at the OSU v UCLA MBB game next Thursday and noticed the ESPN match-up predictor now has this game as a 60/40 chance of UCLA winning/losing. It wasn't long ago I looked ahead at this matchup and I think the Beavers had less than 20% of winning the game. What happened? We know UCLA isn't very good right now and the Beavs have won 5 in a row + it's at Gill, but I like the fact that they're giving us a 40% chance of winning. We know all the advantages UCLA MBB has versus all our disadvantages. Honestly, we have no business winning this game, but let's win this one. More to come.

John Wooden retired.... Same for Beavs. Ralph retired.. Fun fact: Both Gene Bartow and Gary Cunningham posted better W-L records than Wooden!

We know all the advantages UCLA MBB has versus all our disadvantages. Honestly, we have no business winning this game, but let's win this one. More to come. “They’ve lost their confidence,” UCLA coach Mick Cronin told reporters of his players Friday night. “This is just my opinion, I’m not saying I’m right … but we’ve lost our confidence.” UCLA is on a four-game losing streak. Oregon State is on a five-game winning streak. UCLA does not have a quadrant 1, 2, or 3 win on the season. The Bruins have not defeated a team with a better than .400 record. UCLA's best win was a one-point win at home over 4-7 Riverside. And that is the Bruins' sole win since the Ides of November. Oregon State has better offensive numbers than UCLA, and UCLA has better defensive numbers. UCLA has a higher assist/turnover margin, but that is almost entirely because UCLA is doing a better job at avoiding turnovers. Oregon State shoots better than UCLA, from three, from inside the arc, and from the line. UCLA has better three-point defense, but Oregon State has better defense inside the arc. UCLA rebounds better. Oregon State has better blocks and steals numbers. But UCLA is doing better on offense in not getting blocked and not having the ball stolen. Oregon State turns the ball over more, and UCLA's defense is generating more turnovers. UCLA fouls more, but is doing a better job getting fouled.

Well this two game home stand will tell you a lot about the "downside" of this season. OSU must get at least a split.
If this OSU team can't at least split vs two 5 loss teams in SC and UCLA it doesn't bode well. On paper both have more talent, but appear to be struggling playing together. Some injuries and illness have hurt time together, but the "too many 5*" can upset the apple cart may apply more than lack of confidence?!
Best take advantage while they are down. Although SC has played a much tougher schedule than either OSU or UCLA.

You've done nothing but trash this team this season (and last year, and year before that, etc) and now you make the ultimatum that they need a split or else. The level of your hate against the MBB team is unprecedented on any Beaver chat board I've ever seen before. Weird.

The level of your hate against the MBB team is unprecedented on any Beaver chat board I've ever seen before. Weird. You've never been on many chat boards, including this one obviously to recognize "hate"! Curious on the poll were you one of the what 10 out of 59(?) some votes (#s may vary as I've not looked in some time) that picked more than 7 Pac12 wins. Are the rest "haters" or just realists? I'm not sure I've "hated" on any player. I don't "hate" on WT, simply point to actual facts. We've won 6 total Pac12 games in two seasons. We out recruited (which site do you care to use?) one Pac12 opponent. Different sites have OSU predicted for (1) to (6) conference wins. Haters? Or just opinions based on past performances? We actually play the games for a reason. Predictions are just that. Anyone who say predicted (5) Pac12 wins doesn't mean they'd happily be wrong. Get a grip. Your morality and Beaver "righteousness" isn't the standard everyone needs to follow. It's yours and bud, you don't determine how fans practice their support. Maybe get off the holier-than-thou message board rants. Attend a few games in person, give some dollars, associate with live folks to get a better perspective. Have a great holiday. PS- ultimatum? So what, I'm telling WT & the team split or else? Or else what? Pretty sure WT and I have only talked twice, never about hoops specifically. Nor do I think he'd take my "ultimatum" to heart! Lol Pretty common athletic info... win at home, split on the road. Hence, being that SC and UCLA are not their typical self with 5 NC losses each you'd want at least a home split to bode well for a good Pac12 season. Right. Sweep even better. Seems "hate" may be a projection on your part? Or, do you just not get how win loss things work?

Sounds like next week is a big week for Beaver basketball. If we don't get a split, then george is gonna tell us the real 'downside' of the remaining MBB season. Oh no! I hope it's not bad.
Spoiler Alert: I'm pretty sure everybody here knows what george is gonna say in advance.
Hint: We've already heard it after every Beaver MBB game since the 2021 season, but don't let that stop you!
Merry Christmas to Beaver Nation and Benny's House!

For what it's worth, the answer is "we're the youngest team in Division 1."
Jaime Jaquez, Tyger Campbell, David Singleton, Jaylen Clark, and Amari Bailey all left (to go along with Johnny Juzang, Jules Bernard, and Cody Riley the year before), so for the first time in Mick's UCLA career we've had massive turnover, and our basketball NIL didn't really get popping until recently so we missed on a couple of major transfers. As you saw this evening, this is a very inconsistent team because of that youth, but there is still talent. They're just very much still learning how to play like Mick wants them.
Thought you guys looked a bit more talented than in the last few years so hopefully Tinkle gets you guys on track. Beat SC!

Hopefully, we don't have an early second half lull against USC like we had against you guys. Enjoy playing on basketball's version of the Smurf Turf this weekend in Eugene.
