...in the quality of recruits we can reasonably expect to seriously consider OSU? Frankly, I think it really won't hurt. People tend to catastrophize on occasion in my book, I may be unhealthily (?) optimistic at times on my part though. For the most part we've seemingly cornered the market on unknown development players with a lot of potential. A fair number of our big men have been "late bloomers" that didn't grow up playing organized basketball. Even Pope was fairly unknown until after his commitment. We'll still be playing in California. We'll actually get Gonzaga on the schedule, if we can hang tough with them or beat them it's a bonus. If we finish near the top of the league, the likelihood of getting in postseason tournaments could be better than finishing middle-ish in the Pac-12 was. Add to all that, being able to claim we're building a stronger league (whether it turns out to be true or not) in '26 and beyond should pique some interest. It's not the Pac-12, but I think there could be positives.

It's not the Pac-12, but I think there could be positives. I don’t think “building a stronger “ league” is going to pique any interest. Recruits and their parents aren’t stupid. There is no path to building a “P5” conference. OSU and WSU as the foundation for a cobbled together conference from schools from G5 type conferences will never be a P5 conference. Only real chance OSU has for being in a P5 conference is to join one with the Big 12 sometime down the line seeming to be best option. All that said, I don’t think the affiliation with WCC or a future cobbled together conference will likely hurt MBB recruiting that much. Not like we’re recruiting and getting 4 and 5 star kids now. Though you have to wonder if for instance we got Pope in the first place if the reason he came here was because he wanted to play in Pac 12 and OSU was best option to do so. The real impact will likely be in retaining players. OSU will be firmly planted in the mid major, minor league feeder for the power conferences. But not like the Beavers had a lot of choices, and I don’t think the WCC until they figure out the future is bad at all.

I'd love to have Gonzaga's recruiting class every year.

I'd love to have Gonzaga's recruiting class every year. We'll take their "leftovers". Or SD State's, or...

Won't hurt in the slightest. Add.. Utah State, Nevada, Colorado State... The right hire will add excitement, NIL interest, and the ability to add those types looking for PT and to be bmoc.
