Must be nice to have so much money that you can buy TWO five star qbs in the portal.
Currently, the Beavs have one three star qb in recruiting that appears will take some development time until he has a shot to ever play for us. In addition, we have Gulbranson, Montiel, and Throckmorton. Underwhelming qb room to say the least. That’s not a knock on those guys, just an objective truth when compared to most programs we aspire to be like.
We have heard rumors about a lot of qbs in the portal possibly coming to Corvallis, but so far haven’t gotten one to commit. I’m hoping we can somehow get one, otherwise we may be stuck with another 2022 year of qb play (and this time we won’t have the top defense and O line in the conference).
Most years I would say I am fine taking a year to rebuild and develop a qb, but we are not in a situation we can take a year off from remaining relevant. Now, as much as any time in our history, it is crucial to put together a solid season and stay relevant in the public’s eye. A solid qb would likely be the difference in relevancy next year vs an afterthought.

I estimate that Phil Knight and Nike have donated about $2B to duck sports, with most of that money going to football. Yes, they buy a lot of high profile recruits. I think they even paid Bo Nix $3M in 2023 to return and play an extra year at Oregon. When it comes to NIL, the ducks have few limits. Despite this, next year will be the 10th year in a row they've missed the CFP (there are lots of excuses for this). How is that acceptable at any level? Plus, once Phil's gone, things are gonna change in a big way for them.

What does this have to do with Beav recruiting? They aren't even in our conference.

It's the history of recruiting, nationally and in this state. The ducks have bought pretty much every high profile recruit in the state of Oregon over the last 10 years in football, MBB and WBB. Colt, Tyner, Bittle, Shelstad, Sabrina, etc. It's a reality that has put the Beavers at a huge disadvantage, esp in recent years. It has altered the course of Beaver sports and damaged OSU athletic programs.

Pro sports have salary caps for competitive balance - NIL caps for every team. Seems very reasonable since they want to be treated like pros.

They like to make 4 and 5 star QB's into wide receivers. Very few see the field as a QB unless they are transfers. I do not understand why anyone with some time left on their clock would go to Whoregon to play QB.

The Transfer Portal is probably just warming up. Last year 3284 FBS players joined, several thousand more if you include all levels. We’re probably not done yet, coming or going.

Yeah... you have to love folks who just make up "estimates".
As if 2021 Knight's donating neared $1 billion and almost 80% is to facilities... over a 30 year time span: Science campus, Hayward, library, law school building, along with hoops arena and Autzen improvements.
$2 bil most to football FFS.

Focus: Science campus, library and law school have nothing to do with sports. george staying on topic is asking the impossible.
Yes, 80% of the first billion went to facilities. But we already knew that.

But we already knew that. I think the point was that they have donated nowhere close to $2 billion to sports. Which is true.
