PROJECTED STARTERS
Oregon State
G #0 Jordan Pope (15.8 PPG/2.8 RPG/2.8 APG)
G #1 Christian Wright (5.2 PPG/1.8 RPG/1.8 APG/1.2 SPG)
F #12 Michael Rataj (7.7 PPG/6.3 RPG/1.2 APG)
F #34 Tyler Bilodeau (12.7 PPG/5.9 RPG/1.3 APG)
C #24 KC Ibekwe (6.7 PPG/5.2 RPG/0.3 APG/1.2 BPG)
UTSA
G #22 Christian Tucker (14 PPG/3.1 RPG/5.7 APG/1.2 SPG)
G #4 Dre Fuller (11.2 PPG/7.1 RPG/1.7 APG)
F #11 Isaiah Wyatt (10.8 PPG/4.7 RPG/1.4 APG)
F #3 Trey Edmonds (7.7 PPG/6.4 RPG/0.6 APG)
C #2 Carlton Linguard (10.1 PPG/6.7 RPG/0.9 APG/1.8 BPG)
In their last win against Utah Valley 74-71, Tyler Bilodeau dropped a team-high 19 points with four rebounds. Meanwhile, Michael Rataj had 17 points and 11 rebounds in the only double-double of the game. As a team, they had 17 bench points led by Chol Marial who had seven points and four rebounds in 16 minutes. The UTSA Roadrunners play at a fast pace and find themselves in a lot of shootouts, and that's just not going to fly against better competition. UTSA has issues defensively. The Beavers are slowly starting to figure things out, the defensive effort is better, and they're top-100 in field goal percentage allowed and three point percentage allowed. The Beavs should pull away in the second half of this game.

Thank you, Beaverology, for all the great info that you post. I don’t follow the recruiting in different sports as closely as I used to follow, and I forget about upcoming basketball games. Very good info.

The Beavers are slowly starting to figure things out, the defensive effort is better, and they're top-100 in field goal percentage allowed and three point percentage allowed. The Beavs should pull away in the second half of this game. Oregon State's Top 100 statistics: Free Throws Made 16 Free Throws Attempted 27 Free Throw Percentage 36 FTA/FGA 21 Defensive Rebounds 53 Defensive Shooting Percentage 60 Two-Pointers Allowed 26 Defensive Two-Point Percentage 97 Three-Pointers Allowed 92 Defensive Three-Point Percentage 8 0 Second-Half Scoring Defense 25 Most Overtime Points 1 Blocks 84 Block Percentage 96 Opponent's Personal Fouls 3 Opponent's Personal Fouls/Play 4
Most overtime points seems like a given, but Oregon State has been killing overtime.
The Beavs have drawn the third-most personal fouls. This has led to the 27th-most free throws taken and the 16th-most free throws made. 36th-best free throw percentage makes the third-most fouls drawn lethal. It also tends to bode very well in close games. Second-half scoring defense is unusual. Halftime adjustments seem to be working. But the second-half offense has been bad, better than the first-half offense but not great either. Need to get off the blocks better, so the defense does not need to play out of their minds in the second half. Defensive shooting percentage is great. 84th-most blocks in the country, which helps to keep defensive scoring down. As good as Oregon State has been defending from inside the arc, the Beavs have been even better defending outside of the arc.
Defensive rebounding numbers are high, but that is only because the defense does such a great job at forcing missed shots. Defensive and offensive rebounding percentages have both been bad, which wipe out much of the great defense that Oregon State has flashed statistically. If the Beavs could block out more often, Oregon State would be a very formidable opponent. I am hoping that a100% Rataj starts making the rebounding numbers look better.

This game worries me. Not sure why as on paper Beavers are better. Just think this is going to be tight.

I hope you're not thinking OT.

I know it's not the Beavs, but something fun to know while we watch our team - the Quackers just got their wings blown off by Syracuse - a 20 point blowout.

I am at the game—my first game in ~15?years. UTSA just looks better than we do. Our not great shooting isn’t helping.

Beavs shooting better in this half; up 1 with 9:24 left. UTSA is a PITA., scrapping right along, staying in the game.

Yet another day of struggling with a mediocre team.
Let's go, Beavs! Need a win!
