Thanks for posting the link.
Love the assessment of the Catchers position. That could be a real key this season if the offense comes through at Catcher.
Article mentioned Cedillo as being in the OF mix. He's not listed on the roster. Oversight by Eggers?

In the wonderful world of Journalism, KE is the best thing Beaver fans have going, Kerry's stuff is accurate and always interesting - I read everything the Man writes. He has access and shares it all.
If you write anything, you have to tip-toe through the minefield of spelling, punctuation, grammar, fragmentation. typos and brain farts. Things can still fall through the cracks even with roof reading and editing.
Kerry had several nit-picks in this article but those are easily overlooked when you think of his near 50 years of writing (he's 70 now) for the Journal, Oregonian, Tribune and now independently.
Cedillo won't PH next spring, Iowa Western isn't in North Carolina, and Caraway's BA his Senior year at JSerra Catholic HS wasn't .377, it was 49-106 and .462 with 11 doubles, 1 triple and 7 Home Runs. That's nit picking and should not detract from the thorough and awesome report Kerry gave us on Beaver baseball.
I wish he would write more often on Beaver baseball.

Pumped to read your correction, as I was a bit underwhelmed by the numbers as reported by Eggers.

Kerry says: “We have a really good group of players and people,” says Mitch Canham, beginning his sixth season (can it really be?) at the OSU helm. No, Kerry, it can't really be. Mitch began in 2020. Pat Bailey was head coach in 2019.
He IS such a great writer. I just wish he would carefully proof his work and not rely on his memory so much. He is too good for such sloppiness.

Royce Lewis, who also went to J Serra, hit .377 his senior year. I wonder if there was a mixup there?
"[Royce] Lewis, now playing for the Minnesota Twins, obviously was a great player at JSerra as well. But in his senior year of 2017 the Lions were not as strong as the year before and were only 17-13 overall. He batted .377 and had 25 steals and despite the team’s struggles continued to enhance his status as a high MLB draft choice."
and later...
"With 49 hits and a .467 batting average going up against one of the toughest schedules any team in the nation faced, Caraway eclipsed the previous school record for most hits of 45 set by Lewis in his junior season of 2016. He also had impressive totals of seven homers, 11 doubles and 20 RBI. One of his biggest blasts was a two-run shot during the Lions’ 6-0 win over Corona in the CIFSS D1 semifinals."

His article rebutting the Oregonian writers assertions in the Luke Heimlich situation was one of the better researched articles I have read. I framed that one.
It is a very imperfect world - I'll take him just as he is.

Some definite oversight in this article as far as personnel, positions, and stats are concerned but man you have to love when Eggers talks Beaver baseball. The tidbits of info from Coach Canham are awesome. I will continue to say that this year's lineup has a chance to be the best we’ve seen to date. I think we will play really good defense. Ton of athleticism around the field. If the pitching does what I think they can do, watch out.
