Oregon State has not scored in the 3rd quarter against a Pac-12 opponent yet. period. in pac-12 play they have been outscored 41-0. no TDs, no FGs.
They have 3 3rd quarter TDs on the year on offense one against Weber St and two against SJSU.
Now certainly a lot of our stats are troubling. we are 2-7! But I am particularly perturbed about his one because I think it speaks to coaching and adjustments. coming out at halftime, you have seen what the the game is doing. you know what works and what doesn't work. you can adapt and make adjustments.
or not in our case.
Maybe I am seeing something where there is nothing. certainly this could be an artifact of us just not being good. It isn't like we are really scoring anyways. We The 120th out of 128th ranked offense in the nation. The next worse Pac-12 club is Colorado and they are #73 and average 10 points a game more than us...But, I dunno. A lot of weight is always put in that 3rd quarter. it is where you seal the win or launch your comeback. where you really wrestle for control. What I see is teams quickly catch on to whatever little wrinkle we had scripted early in the game, and we've got nothing and apparently all we are doing at half time is hanging our heads and sippin' Gatorade.
Nobody expected a Rose Bowl run this year, but jeez I think most of us expected to be competitive.

Makes you wonder about halftime adjustments on both sides - opponents getting stronger, Beavs stalled.
Carroll in his day at USC was a master of adjustments - came out and destroyed after halftime - his team returned as the predator. Another sign of a learning/ young team, they are coming out of the half stressed, tight trying harder, and ineffective.

I think the Defense has been making good adjustments but I haven't seen it from the Offense at all. Actually, the offense has played better at the beginning of the game and then they fall apart. The Defense has been the opposite in most games. Against UCLA, the defense and offense both looked good to start even though we couldn't put points on the board, we were driving and stopping UCLA. Then, the wheels fell off. The Beav's played one good quarter of football.

It was Carrol so between the bumps of booger sugar and adrenaline cocktails he was probably feeding them at half who knows.

We have had some short term success against teams that over matched us physically considerably--Michigan, Stanford, UCLA. The other side of the coin is that they figured out what we were doing and put a stop to it.

I wonder what CGA did to piss him off.
