Starting 9 -
1st, 3rd, LF, and RF are somewhat difficult to predict because we switch guys in and out of those spots, and all those guys can start on any given day at multiple spots. This is just a prediction, so pick it apart as you please. So much talent on this team it’s hard to pick some guys over others in certain spots, definitely a good problem to have. Caraway was a third baseman coming in. If Guerra is playing third, not sure where Caraway will be, but the dude is so good we have to play him somewhere at all times.
The only 1-9 batting order I remember being this good was 2018. We could legitimately have 8 regular starters hit over .300 for the season (I can only ever remember that happening once since I started watching OSU baseball, and that was 2018). The only difference is, we could have 7/8 guys on this squad with 10+ home runs too. Ridiculous. There is a reason Mike Rooney from D1 baseball said that the pac 12 has one team that is on a tier 1 all on its own, and that’s OSU, and then there is everyone else.
Catcher - Smith/Weber 1st - Caraway 2nd - Bazzana SS - Hainline 3rd - Guerra LF - Macias CF - McDowell RF - Turley DH - Kasper
Top Bench Guys Trosky Krieg Talt Reeder Peterson

Based on Fall Ball exhibition games, you should switch 1b and 3b.

Murderer's Row
Macias spot may depend upon L/R match-ups Webber's bat might force a switch of the 1 and 2 order of catchers The other seven spots are a lock

Batting order:
Bazzana Hairline McDowell Guerra Caraway Kasper Turley Weber Peterson
I put Peterson as DH and 9-hole guy simply because he can take pitches, handles the bat well, and has a little more speed. And I will obviously be way off.
Pitching: May, followed by Kmatz, followed by a hopefully, healthy Hunter. Lots of arms for a Sunday starter if Hunter isn’t healthy.

I think Coach will continue to match-up with "opposites". From past observation, he seems to like platooning. Some possibilities that could present a changing lineup/batting order from game to game.
LH HITTERS: Bazzana McDowell Trosky Kasper Macias Talt Jones
RH HITTERS: Guerra Smith Weber Hainline Caraway Turley Krieg Peterson Reeder Forrester Boyd McEntire Gustafson

I also throw Brandon Forester in as a key guy off the bench.

Peterson might be tough to keep out of the lineup. That kid was nails last season.

Came out of HS and PG as a solid hitter, had a great 2022 with the Knights, struggled last season with the Beavs. If the Beavs catcher (either one)can be a tough out, this will be juggernaut offensively.

This is definitely reminiscent of the lineup in 2018. The addition of Hainline and Caraway are huge. From what I saw in the Fall, Guerra will be at 1B and Caraway will be at 3B. I think depending on who starts behind the plate between Smith and Weber the other will be in the DH roll. I could also see Peterson take over the DH roll in some capacity as well. The depth of this lineup is asstounding. Pitching will be the key…

Is Kreig going to pitch this year? I think Kreig and Trotsky could be big surprises. The depth and HR power is just ridiculous. Offensively this should be better than 2018. Defensively and Pitching is still a question mark.
