Also noticed Gavin Marrs' minutes have dried up. He showed some 'ups'.

Curious that DaJohn Craig got zero minutes last night. Has Josiah taken over his minutes? With Dex out Craig could have eaten up some minutes. I would have thought he’d see a little tick, but I think his bad defense plus Lake’s play of late has kept him on the bench. And he’s not really a good “replacement” for Akanno, who has essentially been playing the 3. Craig is too small for the 3, especially with length Cal Poly had at 1 to 3. Rataj essentially took most of Akanno’s minutes.

Most other programs would have shown TInkle the door after the last 3 years of garbage play, lack of recruiting and no forward progress in the program since the Elite 8 run. A 2-OT win against a lower tier school and no 3's shot to boot should be the straw the broke the camel's back. Wayne is not going to turn this around given recent trends. Yes you have a buyout to fire him but that problem exists with any firing. Show Wayne the door. Were there really guys like that in the 1940s? My father and his friends were not like that. And if there were, have there always been guys like that? I thought guys like that were a phenomenon started in the 1960s. Still, a great movie, I've seen it probably 20 times, but that just struck me about the Donald Sutherland character.

There have been bohemians for decades before World War II. I think Sutherland plays Sergeant Oddball as more of a beatnik than a bohemian, but I think that there have been guys like Oddball for at least a century, maybe even a century-and-a-half.

Ha, love that movie. Haven't seen that one in a couple of mins. In reverance to your well placed anecdote from that clip, kinda hard to see anything beautiful on a gray, atmospheric river day like today here in the Willamette Valley. An umbrella

Chol looks great right now. But he’s also about the same age. Chris Weinke was when he won the Heisman. He should be a superstar Chris Weinke won the Heisman at the age of 28. Weinke was still playing baseball, when he was Chol's age. Also, Weinke winning the Heisman was a complete joke with Michael Vick throwing the ball around at Virginia Tech with Florida State and Virginia Tech each being 10-1. Just a joke. I was being sarcastic. Just saying chol has been around the NCAA for 6 ish years now

Also noticed Gavin Marrs' minutes have dried up. He showed some 'ups'. Yeah really bad deal for him. He’s a defensive player in a team that needs to score points. I don’t see him getting minutes unless 1. The guards start scoring at a way higher clip 2. Some guys get hurt. 3. I’ve heard they are making him play 5 constantly in practice. Not the 3 or 4, just odd He would have looked really good on that CalPoly team.

I wonder if in practice the coaches might want our 5s to get practice against someone besides each other, and Gavin has the combo of height and quickness that gives them a challenge. My uninformed wild guess, he went from supposedly redshirting to "practice fodder" and occasional minutes in games but will likely swing into the 4/3 slots as time progresses. As he grows into it, if he puts on enough "good" weight, he could be a bit of a force at all three frontcourt positions. I'm just thinking both he and Ndong could be playing a mix of positions over their careers if they are here the whole time.

But, now, Marrs is NOT constantly having to play the "5" in practice. He rotates to all the frontcourt spots and is well behind in acclimating to both the offensive (not sure how when there isn't one??) and defensive schemes. He simply gets lost on the court and makes plays due to his athleticism, but is not strong enough to hold down the fort inside, and gets lost on the outside. He was and is a "project" and it is actually a positive for him to not HAVE to contribute right away. My gut tells me as the season goes on and frustration sets in he will get more time as a couple guys really do not completely buy in and there will be foul problems in Pac12 play. He just needs to be ready to play in the scheme when he gets the chance.

I figured out the moniker change the first post I saw. Lots of posters have specific writing styles. I'd only seen one poster here ever use the "familiar" style of the first name of one of our players.
I say welcome back. We all get enthusiastic about our own opinions at times, but we all share the bond of being fans.
