And when they expand then 13, 14, 15 will feel jilted. I get that the SEC and Big10 will be favored. Not that it is right but the Sabin worshippers will do what ever to make sure Bama is well taken care of.

FSU SOS was poor. Alabama had a top ten SOS.
This is perfect example of why they need to expand the CFP.

True that for the #13-15 (or even more) teams, but at least every team that has a shot at the NC will get in, unlike it is now. The 12-team format takes care of the situation like we have this year (and a lot of years) in which there are too many one-loss (and even 0-loss(!)) Power 5 teams that don't get in the playoff. As for the #14 team getting "jilted"...play better the next year.

The expanded playoff just means 6 SEC teams get in every year.

The expanded playoff just means 6 SEC teams get in every year. Five SEC teams (including Texas) would have been in this year. Although things would have turned out differently, because of the conference shuffling.

As I've said before, the 12 team playoff will often look like this:
9 teams split between Big 10 and SEC, the Big XII champ, the ACC champ, and the "other" team.

Funny that this year it is tough to speculate as I'm not sure who the B12 champ would be and if they are going to keep the conference champs as a for sure auto pic?? If so, they could have a 3 loss team in like OkSt could have been this year assuming they would have won vs another team that was not Texas. But as it stands in this last poll projecting to next year, OSU would be the BEST "other" team at #19! UM bye... vs Oregon/Mizzou winner UW bye... vs tOSU/PennSt winner UT bye... Georgia/Ole Miss winner Bama bye... FSU/OSU winner OK left out... The weird thing I thing will be done behind closed doors is the finagling of the rankings to not have rematches early on. IMHO they will never allow (3) B10 or SEC teams in the same bracket slots. In the next two seasons the CFP will resemble the created preseason hoops challenges... The SEC B10 challenge. IF OSU/WSU want to work toward a meaningful resolution it should to be gathering partners... inside & outside the NCAA to create a more FCS football division, with new improved NCAA policies and guidelines for NIL, portal, etc. It may indeed take a huge backer or legislative action?? As it is obvious NCAA upper tier D1 football is moving toward NFL type organization and only $70-100+ mil football budgets will be able to sustain relevance.

You questioned me on this once upon a time, but I double-checked. And ESPN took pains to talk about why the top four champions would be different next year. And only the top four conference champions get byes. Next year, only two of Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama would get a bye. Florida State would get the third bye. And Arizona would get the fourth bye. So, next year using 6+6, which I think is still in play: Michigan...vs. Washington/Liberty winner Texas...vs. Alabama/Oregon State winner Florida State...vs. Georgia/Missouri winner Arizona...vs. Ohio State/Oregon winner If they go to 5+7: Michigan...vs. Washington/Oregon State winner Texas...vs. Alabama/Penn State winner Florida State...vs. Georgia/Missouri winner Arizona...vs. Ohio State/Oregon winner Having said that, I do not know how Notre Dame factors into fifth "conference champion." Michigan probably gets the Rose, Texas probably gets the Sugar. Florida State probably gets the Peach, and Arizona probably gets the Fiesta. I am guessing that they "fix" some of the SEC v. SEC matchups.

Create divisions with regional/geographic relevance and bring back the "college" feel of the game. I know when I lived in Newberg I had a good time going to George Fox games when they resurrected the program, just for the small-town inclusive feel and the local/regional kids on the team.

Policies and guidelines for NIL arguably violate the Sherman Anti-Trust Act. You need Congressional action to implement something like that.

As it is obvious NCAA upper tier D1 football is moving toward NFL type organization and only $70-100+ mil football budgets will be able to sustain relevance. The biggest difference between the NFL and the NCAA as it is now is that the NFL's biggest teams chose to align with the smaller market teams for revenue and competitive parity. The New York Giants and the Mara family, and the Bears and the Halas family could have told the league that they wanted THEIR bigger share of the pie and negotiated TV rights instead of allowing the NFL to negotiate for the league as a whole and share those revenues equally among teams. This is exactly the opposite of what has caused the NCAA conference re-alignments. The biggest teams want all of the money, and are willing to slough off the smaller schools in order to get the biggest piece of the pie. Competitive balance, shared revenues, parity - none of those things matter in NCAA football right now. We're looking at more of an international soccer model where big $$$ is the only thing that moves the needle. Interesting, to say the least, when private owners of professional sports teams care more about fairness and a healthy game than organizations run by institutions of higher learning.
