"He wanted to compete at a higher level"
SS Ryker Waite from Queen Creek, AZ. has reclassified from the class of 2025 to the class of '24 and decommitted from Oregon State. Waite is a left handed hitting infielder with good pop in his bat and swift on the base paths. He is the 3rd ranked player in Arizona in the class of 2024.
He has now committed to Vanderbilt.

Why can't the Beavers put together a schedule with games against high caliber opponents. Why would you have to schedule all opponents from G5 conferences? How about an all power 4 schedule? Baseball would be an easier sport to schedule. Plus there are a lot of elite teams playing in G5 conferences. Competition is good in a lot of smaller conferences. Recruits can still compete at a higher level at OS despite not being affiliated with a conference.

What Oregon State does in the near future will be impacted somewhat by the strength of schedule? Maybe. There is a perception among some (whether true or not) that it might have been an easier path to the CWS from a P-5 conference. I could disagree with that notion.
OSU's program is built on some impressive culture and tradition, an excellent winning % and player development. Maybe those qualities still appeal more to aspiring young preps than who is on your schedule.
Cal State Fullerton and Coastal Carolina are recent examples of a CWS champion that didn't come from a P-5 conference. It can be done and I would point out that I don't think either of those programs have the chops Oregon State would have in that role.

If you missed it - posted 11-21
Along the way, OSU parted ways with 4 recruits. RHP Jake McKowen from Fair Oaks-Del Campo (Sacramento area) elected to graduate early, enroll at Folsom Lake C.C. and prepare himself for the MLB draft next June. He had many nice things to say about the OSU staff - he simply wants to get an early start playing pro ball. MIF Conner Barth from Roseville, CA. - Woodcreek, was a surprising last minute decommit and will now play at Mississippi State. Both McKowen and Barth are nationally ranked players.
MIF Kenji Colston disappeared from our radar a while ago. He was a teammate of Brandon Forrester at Carmichael-Jesuit (Sacramento area). He will play at Cal State Fullerton. OF/LHP Thomas Young from Carson City, NV. - Douglas has also been off the radar for a while. He will play for the Aztecs at San Diego State.

Another casualty.
Drew Van Court, a Class of 2025 RHP from Woodland, CA has flipped to TCU.
Quotes from his local newspaper, Daily Democrat, on October 18: The College sports landscape has dramatically shifted recently which has caused a lot of high school student-athletes to reconsider their future plans. Van Court was initially committed to play at Oregon State but decided to pivot after the Pac-12 Conference as we know it crumbled earlier this year.
“All of the conference stuff going on, it didn’t feel like the right fit for me anymore,” Van Court said. (end quote)
It's hard hearing these stories, but not surprising.

Roseville is a dump, thats for sure. When we lived in Carson City (NV) and would go over Donner to the central valley, I wanted to instantly go home.

When we lived in Carson City (NV) and would go over Donner to the central valley, I wanted to instantly go home. Depends on what era you're talking about. At one time, perhaps the early 70s, it was named the best city in the US by the folks that do these things. Population explosion from the mid 80s onward have taken away the town I knew as a kid. I haven't been back since Grandma died in 2000 and even then, it was largely unrecognizable to me. The Roseville of my childhood, though, was pretty nice.
