RPI SOS is based on RPI. And RPI thinks that Purdue Fort Wayne is the 21st best team in the Country. Garbage in garbage out. Massey says OSU's SOS is 185, which I think is a little low, but way more accurate than RPI's. "We out size almost every opponent". Hmm, I seem to remember someone saying that height has nothing to do with basketball. I'll have to try to remember who said that. Comparing Syd and our current frosh is, at best, apples and oranges. Syd was a shooter who made fun of her large number of TO's. Our frosh are pass/defense oriented players. The Pac-12 is easily the best conference in the country and how our frosh will handle it will be fun to watch. Lol... there is no such thing as "RPI SOS"... Read up... As far as your other comments. It seems you take things out of context try to make meaningless points. As far as your trying to qualify who you can and can't compare. A PG contribution does vary, my points... SYD is the best Frosh PG EVER... up to this point. And, 5 games isn't any sort of sample size to say squat. So an SOS calculated off of RPI isn't a RPI SOS? I'm curious, what would you call it? Ah, so you were the one who claimed height had nothing to do with basketball. Wasn't sure. And yes, what's what with the Frosh won't be known until the last Pac-12 season rolls around.

Read up... if you want more precise info. A bit boring to post it all here. SOS is a calculation used in the RPI. However, they are separate indexes, calculated differently. SOS can use W% or NET in its calculation, and at times you'll see RPI or RPI NET depending on which SOS calculation was used. But, as we all know none of these are great. SOS is far, far more "accurate" when there are more games, less teams. Like MLB with 30 teams and 162 games. College football with hundreds of teams and only 12 games sucks. College hoops has the is not much better... more games, but not enough with so many teams.

Even when Syd was a senior, I wasn’t comfortable with her ball handling or defense against quick guards. DH may already be ahead of her in those areas. But yea, beyond that, not so much yet.

I was just pointing out that Donovyn had a good assist to turnover ratio. Only because turnovers are consistently a big issue with the Beavs. I didn't single out any of the players but since Syd's name had come up let's look at their stats after their first 5 games.
Assists S - 26 D - 20 Turnovers S - 13 D - 3 Steals S - 5 D - 3 Rebounds S - 13 D - 13 Points S - 54 D - 37
It looks about like I'd expect. I didn't compare it but I would think that Syd played more minutes. The assist numbers don't surprise me because she had Ali and Jamie on the wings, two very good shooters. Syd is a more prolific shooter. Rebounds were even and steals were close enough. Dono has taken better care of the ball. If Dono turns into anything close to Syd I'm sure we'd all be very happy.
