In Websters dictionary next to each word "liar", "quitter"' "loser" is a picture of smith.

I still have a hard time believing he's this cold and calculating and would go out of his way to torpedo the program. Makes me think the ducks got some dirt on him and are using it to buy two wins (civil war and MSU game next year).

Since Oregon State gave him the only chance to be a D1 QB and then a head coaching position you'd think the guy would be just a little more appreciative.

Squirming like a whore in church while talking about how important it is to build trust with the players......
He looked like someone may start shooting the way he was bobbing and weaving

I always thought his poor camera presence precluded him ever getting a really high profile job. We forgave it because he was one of ours, and because he started winning. Wonder what MSU fans, who would know very little about him and possibly expected a bigger name, think so far?

Michigan State Forums:
They are mostly anointing him as the savior. Basically saying he left a crap school that is all but dead for a great school in a great conference that is rich in history and $$.
There are some that feel badly for our situation as well - but they only bring up the collapse of the PAC as a good enough reason for him to bolt.
No mention of the hypocrisy of him preaching "building trust" with his new players while just having absolutely destroyed that trust with OSU players.
Appears that they really wanted Bray - happy to disappoint. They are fairly sure they are getting Chiles and that Martinez is not coming - but is not staying at OSU.

New a few minutes ago from The Register Guard
Michigan State had enough competition from Power Five college football teams also hoping to hire Jonathan Smith that it added a seventh year to his contract, helping a shaken program land the former Oregon State coach.

Think of the things other teams would think were definitely happening if they only relied on our boards as sources

New a few minutes ago from The Register Guard Michigan State had enough competition from Power Five college football teams also hoping to hire Jonathan Smith that it added a seventh year to his contract, helping a shaken program land the former Oregon State coach. Under the terms of the deal, Smith will earn a base salary of $7.25 million in his first year on the job, and the pay will rise by $100,000 each year, to $7.85 million in Year 7, for a total of $51.35 million.
