jeez what a frigging joke Falcons and Saints 'lead' the divisions at 5-6 WTF If a division leader is under .500 a team with a winning record should be awarded. One of Eli's two superbowl's came off an 8-8 campaign(9-7 in the other) so would be difficult to oust a .500 team.

That's parity, which is exactly what the NFL wants. That's why the schedules are so unfair to the division winners.
Imagine if baseball made the Rangers play more games against the top teams instead of a balanced schedule. That's what the NFL does.

Imagine if baseball made the Rangers play more games against the top teams instead of a balanced schedule. That's what the NFL does. I love the NFL's version of parity, and wish that other sports could/would attempt to emulate it. It's a lot tougher to dominate or underperform in the NFL than it is in most other sports. There's actually hope for small market and/or downtrodden teams to succeed. I also applaud the NFL for sticking to its divisions and rivalries and playoff format (although these have evolved over the years, they haven't given in to any pressure like snubbing a bad division). I very much dislike stuff like what the NBA and NHL playoffs look like. I also dislike leagues like the Pac-12 ditching divisions for purposes of spots in championship games while still very much having teams play division-based schedules.
