Barnes going to be able to find enough $$$ to keep Mitch? That will be the biggest question if they don’t have P5 money. They can’t afford Canham or his staff in MWC. Unless they are on board with taking pay cuts just to stay at OSU. But in reality they have a proven track record where they could probably go wherever they want at this point. Also have to think that most of the current players and incoming recruits didn’t sign up to play in the MWC. We can probably hang on and be a Coastal Carolina/ECU type on the west coast. Dominate the MWC and make a regional every year isn’t a bad thing. Everyone just has to understand that a non P5 school on the west coast doesn’t get the big time recruits anymore.

Canham is not even making $500k per year. Much different situation than smith.

Now that we won't be paying Smith all those millions we should be able to give Canham a nice raise---at least enough to keep him happy!

For example the higher end head coaches on the pay scale are making around 100,000-150,000 in the MWC. No one is even close to what Canham is making if they are at a mid-major on the west coast. Better hope donors/alumni can fund the baseball program or inevitably it will not be able to sustain its current level of success.

Still have hope that the Oregon Legislature will take care of this for us by a reallocation of about 45 million of the 200 million the give to hole every year.

We better have learned the lessons of last week. We are now dealing with a Professional Level of baseball. With the money now legally flying around we better enjoy this coming Baseball Season and team. Soo much for a free education, building character and honor. Now it is building a Bank Account. Every school should be required to post all of the Player NIL contracts.

In August of this year, Coach Canham signed a 7 year contract with OSU that will pay him $4.55m in base salary plus perks and incentives. That is an average of $650k per year in salary over the life of the contract.
I expect Mitch to coach the Beavers through the final PAC-12 season. At that time, the picture of OSU baseball's future will be clear.
No doubt he will have interest from other programs and he's never more than a phone call away from Seattle. He is highly thought of in the Mariner organization.
