First thing to fix is to start rebounding. Those are effort type things

Well... if Pitt is the 9th place team (I believe FF mentioned that as the preseason pick? ), I'm glad we're not in the ACC!

It is going to be a long year. More evidence that Barnes made a bad decision in extending the contract of WT with such a high buyout. No one was going to steel WT from OSU.

Two WHOLE pages on this thread. There’s just too much excitement regarding men’s hoops. 🙄

It really is impressive how quickly the program was destroyed after reaching the elite 8.

Not being able to regularly make 3pt shots is going to be the theme this season. 2 or 3 more makes in the first half, 2 more makes in the 2nd half makes the game against Baylor respectable. WT is making some rather curious decisions.
He’s got a slew of guards that are getting minutes and not scoring any points, but they still take their shots. Rochelin has been bad, Dex akonno seems like he takes a lot of shots to get to 12 PPG. Christian doesn’t seem to be adding what an upperclassman guard should be adding.
Mike Rataj needs some time to get his legs but he hasn’t done anything worth being excited about in 3 games.
Tyler is playing well, just can’t shoot the 3 so far this year. Pope is not doing as much as he should because he doesn’t have help.
KC and Chol actually looked great against Baylor. The problem I’ve noticed is they both look a lot better when the game is not close. KC looked great getting buckets against Baylor down 18 pts.
The freshman I’m really trying to get a read on but all 4 of them actually look like good Division 1 contributors.
Ndong and Marrs are gonna struggle for playing time now that Mike is back I would actually like to see a line up for 5 minutes one time with these 2, Pope, Tyler and Lake/Craig. Seems like both of these guys have unique skills that some other guys don’t have. Teams seems more opened up and moving faster when they are on the floor. I’ve also notice WT has a very short leash with his bigs. One screw up from the young big guys and they are yanked. Marrs needs 20-30 LBs to be a serious rebounding threat, Thomas seems to foul a lot because he give up position away from the ball.
Lake and Craig: it’s early but they seem to be way more well rounded players than the other guards not named Pope.(I think maybe their defense is lacking)don’t mistake I’m not saying the are better than Dex or Christian, but we’d probably be well served by less shots from Wright, Akonno, Rochlen, and more shots by lake and craig
The fact is against good teams our starting 5 has had the doors blown off them pretty quickly and I’m not sure what the answer is going forward.
The Nebraska and Baylor game and to an extent the Pitt game were a big brother getting a big lead and then teasing the little brother till the clock said zero

If you’re gonna have 3 guards on the floor all the time, they have to be able to shoot. That’s all there is to it. If those guards can’t score they need to run 3 6’7 plus players at a time onto the floor
