As has recently been reported, Foster may be a steal for us at linebacker. The consensus seems to be that he made one of the biggest jumps of any kid in the state this year in terms of what was expected in August and what he accomplished this year. He is quick and tough and active and was around the ball all game in Central’s (somewhat, at least in terms of the low scoring) surprising 12-7 win on Friday.
Naone is the #1 prospect in the Junior class, and since he was listed at tight end, I went expecting to see him creating havoc on that side of the ball. Given that the Lions have a senior tight end who is an all-state kid, I wasn’t surprised that Naone shared reps on offense. He is big, yet quick enough that they split him out at times and he showed good hands and mobility. What really caught my eye was how he played on defense. He was a guided missile, just blowing up opponents and tackling with ill-intent all night. He just punished ball-carriers. Just plays like his hair’s on fire. I could see him being a dynamic hybrid OLB or Edge, or a physical athletic tight end.
I went away impressed with both kids, and excited about their future in Corvallis. I know that there is much hand-wringing with the portal opening soon and the questions about our future affiliation, but I’m an optimist and just have a good feeling about where things end up for us in the near future, including retention of coaches and current players, as well as recruiting. I don’t base this in expertise or inside knowledge of any kind, but I’ve just got a feeling. ESPN, Fox, and most of our fellow PAC members have tried to bury us, but OSU is not backing down, and I believe that we’re going to come out of this OK, whatever that looks like.

Thanks for the playoff report on the two future Beavers. Sounds like a couple of ballers. Future D1 players usually stand out from the rest when I've seen them over the years. Love to get the best in state kids.
