Time to talk about the Civil War. Similar challenges to UW. High ranked QB (Penix/Nix) and WR (Odunze/Franklin) Hopefully a practice week vs uw sets us up to crush the quacks hopes....

Do we really have a chance against the Ducks this year? I'm not trying to be unnecessarily pessimistic, I mean I want us to win more than anything. And maybe the Washington game disappointment somehow helps? Nothing to lose now....they have certainly more to lose than we do. It will take our best game of the season, and even that may not be enough, but ya never know. Washington fans after the game I talked to seemed to think we have a good shot to beat them...I dunno, I think they were just feeling lucky to have escaped with a win, and trying to be nice. We will see!

Sing-a-long time
Oregon our alma matter, Were the men of steel are found, In the bushes, With their right hands, Jacking off upon the ground. This goes on 'til early moring, When they all lap up the ***. They'll be a high protien breakfast, for the sons of Oregon
Oregon, our alma mater Where the men of iron are found In the bushes with the coeds Making love upon the ground This goes on 'til early morning When the cops break up the fun There'll be a military wedding For the sons of Oregon

We will see! When I see "beaverdreams" saying "Do we really have a chance" I think "beaverbaddreams". No offense, I hate the idea of giving up, and that's how "Do we really have a chance" seems to me. We could lose, or win. Seems to me the most common occurrence of so called "upsets" are weeks 1/2 and rivalry games. This is a rivalry, and anything can happen, especially when there's not a whole lot of distance between the rivals. It's not like we are a horrible team vs a great team- OSU vs UW 1985 -where it's obvious one team doesn't have a chance.

This team always has a chance to win.

We will see! Anything is possible, especially in the CW. I'd feel A LOT better if we were playing at Reser. The line is +13.5......if I were a betting man, I'd take the quacks laying the points. I'm hoping we can keep it close, but if our O stalls like it did against the Dawgs, we could get boat raced.

All three of those things....and plus that it is at Autzen....

We will see! I know how you're feeling. It feels the same to me. But then I look back and see that it has been TWENTY games since the Beavers have lost a game by more than 3 points. That kind of establishes something, I think. And if a game can be within 3 at the end, doesn't that mean that a single play or bounce or call could turn a loss into a win? But, yeah, it feels pretty insurmountable at the moment. We'll see what happens on Friday. You never know. A win would be so, so sweet.

A Beaver victory at Autzen is going to be a nice send off for the Ducks.
Based upon the UW game and last year's CW, I suspect the first half to be rough and the second half to be ours.

The last time that Oregon State had such a long streak of not losing by more than three? Never. The last time that Oregon State had such a long streak of not losing by more than four? 1905-1908. The Allen Steckle and F.S. Norcross teams played in 21 games, going 16-2-3. That includes the 1907 undefeated, untied, and unscored upon Beavs, the "Champions of the Western United States." The two losses were the road finales in 1905 and 1906. The first ended the 1905 season, a 6-5 (touchdowns were only five points back then) loss to the Multnomah Athletic Club semi-pro team on December 9, 1905. And the second at Willamette on a short week on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1906. (Thanksgiving was on the final Thursday of November until 1939. Lincoln had set the date during the Civil War in 1863.) Willamette won 4-0 on a four-point first half field goal.
