There will probably be more news about signees when the coach returns from the XC Championships.
The signees posted on X:
Megan Hatcher: 55.7sec 400m, 24.7 200m
Cadence Kasprick: 4:55 mile
Beatrice Pettersson: Shot/Discus (from Sweden)
Avery Marr: 2:14 800m
Delaney Ulrich: 5:03 1600m
Maella Hodgson: 2:10.8 800m, 4:23 1500m (Surrey, BC)
Megan H's 55.7sec 400m will put her into the OSU top-10 right away. Looking forward to seeing her join our current group of runners and get some new OSU records going.
It's great to see another outstanding Canadian athlete, Maella Hodgson, with our T&F team! She'll be joining fellow British Columbians Maya Baechler and Ruby Broadbent. Ruby we've "seen" already, of course, perform amazingly on this year's XC team. Maya is more of a middle-distance runner we'll see this coming Spring.
Beatrice is an unknown-to-Americans Swedish athlete that competed in the Nordic U20, placing 3rd in the Shot. I'm sure the success of our Throwing group helped her decision to come here.
Some of the athletes we saw only briefly last year appear to be coming back (by looking at their Opendorse profiles) - it appears many redshirted. If we see them, we could have the record-setting relay teams that I thought we'd have last year, a great high jumper, a record-setting 400m Hurdles runner, and a record-setting javelin thrower. Really, it's difficult to say who is coming back. There are so many XC and T&F athletes that it's hard to tell how the scholarship money is distributed and who can pay outright for their education.
