In his 6th season and program is wallowing in mediocrity.
At 6-4 after an embarrassing loss to ASU where they were held to 7 points. His seat is going to get VERY hot if they drop their last 2 to Cal and SC.
I never liked or respected the guy so I hope they go 6-7 and Kelly gets his walking papers.

He was an ass at UNH. He was an ass at TSDTR. He was an ass in the NFL. He's an ass at FUCLA.
He's done well for himself being an ass. My ongoing fear is that his position also made him a role model to others...

I am surprised Chip lasted this long. He had a good amount of time to get the program going in the right direction, and how hard can that be with the UCLA name behind you?
I love that USC and UCLA are heading to the Big Ten limping and licking their wounds.

I think USC can, eventually, hold serve in the Big 10, but not UCLA. I definitely see them as the next Nebraska. But I hope both of them fail at everything going forward - and that Chip and Linc are a large part of that failure.

UCLA is a good school in a big market, so it should be easy to recruit good men, much easier than OSU or WSU. So this would imply that what is missing is a good coach. Yet they stick with Chip for 6 years? I can't understand why. It's as if they've become complacent.

UCLA extended him last year after he went 9-3. His contract now runs through 2027 with an 8.5 million buyout if they fire him after this year. But the buyout drops to nothing after 2025. So, worse case scenario for them if UCLA continues to struggle, they are probably stuck with him for at least one, possibly two more years.
Really, don't understand why the are struggling lately. Having watched them in Corvallis, I thought they had a physically very solid team that just needed a more consistent passing game.

Chip’s gimmick got stale and he hasn’t invented a new way to “legally cheat”. STBH.

They may be in a big market, but they don't have the support behind their team. Their football practice fields aren't even 100 yards. They also play their home games a long way from campus and don't get the support from their student body. It's not quite as easy of a job as it seems.

It was not officiated correctly, which allowed it to continue for far longer than it should have been allowed to continue. Now that it is called correctly, the gimmick does not work as well as it did. It was revolutionary at the time.
