I mean two games in a playing 7 (at 10 min+, as more than 7 played... 8 scored. 10 saw the court!?)is bad? Or, now it's bad cuz certain players didn't get enough?

You think playing hoops makes you some expert. You're not. Preseason... you dogged the entire team you now dog a specific player. Two games in with zero actual knowledge of the program (what is it you said 15 or 20 total games you've sort of seen??) you now think you know better player combos than the staff. Hmmmm... after preseason isn't that what these games are for??

Hopefully you are a distant, very distant, relative (please don't be his Dad... that'd be really really sad!) as GM doesn't need your brand of support.

And, the history and background of a program and staff is very relevant. Your focus isn't OSU hoops and analysis... it's your insane and innate bias trying to subtlety (only to you) defame anything that may take away PT from one particular player.

The smartest guy in the room needs to prove his mettle again. Thank God politics is 99.9% gone from the board.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t see all that much contact on Pope’s final “and one.” But I’ll take it and the win. Wasn’t always or even often pretty, but a win at this time of year with a young team — even against a team we should beat — is a good thing. Hopefully this is a “growing” game for the team. A few thoughts/observations.

As bad as Pope was in the earlier stages of the game, he was that special and more during the later stages. When he’s rolling like that he is so fun to watch.

Bilodeau had a coming out game. Maybe he had a better game(s) last year, but I don’t recall one. He scored in a variety of different ways. Needs to be smarter with 4 fouls though. I believe he had a bad turnover right before he fouled out. When the TO occurred my first thought was, don’t compound it by making a dumb foul trying to make up for the TO by being too aggressive on D. Hopefully he learns from that because they need him on the floor, especially with Rataj out.

Is there a more frustrating player than Akanno? Too often he looks like a guy who is talented enough to get to a spot but not talented enough to get the payoff. But then he’ll hit a big 3 or finish a drive, and you remember that they need his scoring so going to have to take the bad with the good.

Wright is looking like the player I hoped he would be last year. I thought he seemed like a player that could have a nice sophomore jump, but the injury took that chance away. Well the jump might have just been delayed a year. Liked his activity in game 1 and he built upon that to have a very nice game — save for the 5 TOs — last night.

The Bigs — I’ll just say that KC and Chol have their limitations and leave it at that.

The Frosh — While Craig was the board darling in game 1, I was much more impressed and intrigued by Lake. Seeing him on the floor down the stretch in crunch time was pretty impressive for a freshman let alone a walk-on. His game was impacted by the increase in competition (didn’t look quite as smooth), but the moment never looked too big for him. He may never be a #1 or #2 option, but I think we might have ourselves a solid+ player in the making.

I commented after first game that I didn’t notice Ndong much. Can’t say that after game 2. He’s young and raw, but definitely has some talent with which to work. As does Gavin, though we might have to wait to see them all until he gains strength.

Nice to see the Beavs convert this type of game — no matter who the opponent — into a win. Need to play better overall to keep that happening, but for now I’ll just be happy for the win.
