Today 230 at Gill.
Watch: Pac12 Network.
Will the Beavers be challenged by a Linfield squad who finished 10-15 last year and have a new coach? Anything short of a 30 point win could be trouble for this board.
Projected Starters:
OREGON STATE
G #0 Jordan Pope (12.6 PPG/2.6 RPG/2.3 APG)
G #1 Christian Wright (2.2 PPG/0.9 RPG/1 APG)
G #4 Dexter Akanno (7.9 PPG/2.4 RPG/1.6 APG)
F #34 Tyler Bilodeau (7 PPG/3.9 RPG/0.6 APG)
C #15 Chol Marial (2.2 PPG/2.2 RPG/0.2 APG)
LINFIELD
G #1 Chase Bennett (1.9 PPG/1.3 RPG/1.3 APG)
G #2 Jack Greenwood (1 PPG/0.4 RPG/0.2 APG)
G #12 Jackson Dupree (8.1 PPG/3.1 RPG/0.8 APG)
G #25 Joshua Ryan (N/A)
F #24 Cayden Lowenbach (2.6 PPG/2.9 RPG/0.8 APG)
Previously at CMS, new Linfield coach Levi Sieg emphasized good defense with an inside-out offense that frees up 3 pt shooters. Can the Beavers defend the perimeter? Watch for marksman Jackson Dupree to take advantage of open looks from the outside arc.
Something else to watch: how much will the Beavers miss Glenn Taylor Jr's scoring + Nate Meithof's perimeter defense.
Go Beavs!

In-state rivalry game! Who needs the stinkin' Civil War.
Plus my wife went to Linfield so there's some trash talk in our house today. Just kidding.. confirmed that she could not care less.

I'll be curious to see if/how much the guard play, beyond that of Pope, overall improves. I think it should improve.
I take the transfer of Taylor as a mixed bag, he was our second leading scorer, but he was also our leader in turnovers (something our post players also need to improve on) and we had a few players with more steals or blocks per minute. I think it could very well be a wash, and with more experience I hope we see better overall play in the backcourt this year.

Unfortunately Linfield is worse than a practice as far as competing vs talent. But, it counts as a W, and they get to play someone else, but I'm pretty it does not count toward NET calcs. Which is actually a plus in this case.

Good to know. A win today is meaningless. Remember, george doesn't hate WT, he just hates WT the coach.

Watched some of the Georgia - Oregon game cuz wanted to see how former Illini RJ Melendez was fitting in at Georgia. Came away impressed with Bittle. Didn’t see him play much last year, but wasn’t impressed with him year 1 given how highly rated he was. Hit a 3 and also scored at the rim. Nice player to have.

PJ Carlisemo (sp?) just said something like juices flowing for first game with people in the stands, and you could not see 1 person in stands behind him from perspective from which they were shooting.

A win is not even factored into NET or RPI, so no, it doesn't matter. A loss and WT should be escorted directly to the airport. By the way, check out the ESPN box score for the game. It looks like Linfield has around 50 guys on the roster and most of them are just listed as ATH.

Pope is so fun to watch. Wright definitely looks more active and healthy than last year.
