Love Brent but unsure about being honored. Why is honoring him a question mark?

Love Brent but unsure about being honored. Why is honoring him a question mark? does he hold records? Did he lead us to great heights? Just wondering.

It remains a mystery to me how an OSU MBB team with not one but two future NBAers in Scott Haskins and Brent Barry, along with folks like Chad Scott and Charles McKinney never tasted the postseason......

I think Barry is still second in career FT% at OSU, not sure if he led the nation one year. I'm pretty sure he made all-conference at some point while he was here. He had a heck of an NBA career as a player (apparently, at least as of a few years ago, he was the only player in NBA history to ever lead the NBA in both season 2 point percentage and season 3 point percentage - separate years). His post playing NBA career has been pretty significant as well. Oh, and he practically stole the show in a movie that was nominated for 5 academy awards He was a pretty significant player for OSU even if the team wasn't going through the best of times. I think maybe they try and recognize top players of various eras, even if those eras weren't so great.

I would assume such a hall would recognize the best players we've had. And I'm not sure how he wouldn't be considered one of them.

Go Beavers! He only had those guys his RS freshman and Sophomore years. Chad Scott flunked out and robbed the pizza delivery guy his junior year and he had no help his Senior year other than Mustapha Hoff. The year after Brent left was the least talented roster that we’ve ever had. JD Vetter led the team in scoring at 10 pts per game.

Barry is one of the best MBB college athletes in the State’s history plus he had a solid nba career. Relative to some other HOFs that came before him, he deserves it. Poo pooing a Beaver going in the HOF…Christ, what the hell is wrong with you people. Congratulate him, and move on.
Great recognition, Brent. You deserve it!

Yeah, and our coaching was not great at that point either, which was the point I was attempting to make, albeit subtly........a team with Haskins at center and Barry on the perimeter along with 3 journeymen ought to have been in the NIT at the least. I had the pleasure of having student tickets at Gill from 1987 until well into the 1990's (11 years of gradual school), so I got to see Barry posterize many a Pac-12 opponent - I remember a dunk of his against WSU where he almost kicked the opponent in the teeth he was so high in the air.......and he would later join the likes of MJ and Dr. J in winning the NBA slam dunk contest with the "take off from the free throw line jam". So count me among his fans, and one who thinks the OSU Hall of Fame honor is deserved. Go Beavers!

Oregon State played a just blindingly difficult nonconference schedule: @ Oklahoma, @ Missouri State, @ NC State, @ James Madison, and games against BYU and Ohio State in Portland. All but BYU was a loss. Oregon State lost four games by a possession or less. Flip one of those results, and Oregon State is likely in the NIT.
