11-7 the final. Fun fact: Oregon State baseball has played five 11-7 ballgames in the past 20 years. June 25, 2006 Oregon State 11 - North Carolina 7 (5-0 North Carolina in the fourth.) June 6, 2010 Florida Atlantic 11 - Oregon State 7 (8-0 Florida Atlantic in the third.)
March 11, 2012 OREGON STATE 11 - Oklahoma 7 (7-0 Oklahoma in the fourth.)
March 26, 2017 OREGON STATE 11 - Arizona 7 (5-0 Oregon State in the fifth and 11-3 Oregon State in the eighth.)
April 22, 2023 ARIZONA STATE 11 - Oregon State 7 (7-3 Oregon State in the sixth.)
Oregon State won three straight after the 11-7 win in 2006-2007, 2012, and 2017. The 2010 loss to Florida Atlantic ended Oregon State's season in 2010. Oregon State won the next two in 2011 before losing the third. Oregon State lost the next game as well, blowing the Arizona State series, but won the next two.
Oregon State went to the Super Regional round in 2007, 2011, 2013, and 2018, winning three of four and ultimately winning two of three of Oregon State's National Championships. Bodes well for next year.
11-7 has always had a special place in my heart after that 2006 season. Hopefully, the 11-7 games provides Arizona some luck over the next three games. |
