Tip-off Dinner was great last night. Very well attended by BEAVERNATION. Some snippets from last night:
1. AJ is so impressed with how quick our freshman guards push the ball from back court to front court. AJ told the audience that BEAVS are going to push the ball. Raegan backed up AJ stating that she is excited for more opportunities to run, instead of walking the ball up court, and Raegan having to establish post position and holding off her defender for multiple seconds before the ball comes inside.
2. Defense is the mantra for this season. All the players & coaches spoke about returning to the OSU WBB standard on defense
3. TvO gave an emotional overview of the team, and mentioned that this is the most complete team she has ever had the opportunity to be a part of...ALL THE PIECES ARE IN PLACE.
4. Coach Rueck did not really speak to anything specific, but was clearly in a optimistic frame of mind. He stated that this teams' talent, effort, and determination in practice is akin to the 2014-15 squad. Coach was happy that his team has had the extra practices, trip to Italy, and believes this team is coming together rapidly.
5. Lots of raves from the upper class women about the athleticism of the 3 freshmen. It is clear they are expecting contributions from them early in the season.

When I hear "push the ball more" I get all tingly. I've shouted myself hoarse imploring a speed up for years.

I'm confident that we are going to see this more than what we have seen over the past few years. We have the horses that can run. Donovan and Kennedie really push the ball hard. Saw the OSAA HS playoffs last year and I was duly impressed with both of them. Watched Dominka's games this summer and both she and AJ are runners filling the lanes. I can't tell you how impassioned and excited AJ was to share with the audience how fast OSU WBB are going to play in transition this season.

It'll be interesting to see if that plays out or not. I mean the teams scoring strength is Reagan, Timea and Talia. None of which thrive in transition. Donovan will absolutely be the most dynamic athlete on the team and is an awesome defender. Adlee should win the other starting spot over AJ in my opinion because she can make shots and her defense really improved down the stretch. Biggest problem is still that there is no true high level PG.

Biggest problem is still that there is no true high level PG. AJ & Adlee will both get loads of playing time. Our PG question remains, but we have a stable of candidates now that we didn't have before. And l feel confident in Martha playing PG, maybe not as scorer & defender, but Martha can run the offense and distribute very well. I believe Donovan and Kennedie will eventually get more PT at the point as they are both already solid defenders.

I watched a few of Dominka's games also and she also can handle the ball well and push it quickly up the court too in addition to filling the lanes well as you mention. From the small sample I saw I was really impressed with her game and I think she will get important minutes this year right from the get-go!
