I'd expect both Dickert and Smith to be looking elsewhere. Both want to compete against the best. I get Dickert but Smith has really built something special at OSU. Maybe it's my own bias and desire to see him stay at OSU for 40 years, but if he goes, I hope it's to the NFL.

Bundy graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in psychology in 1972. He was accepted to and attended law school in Utah, though he never earned his degree. His brother Al wasn't as educated, he became a shoe salesman was married and had children. Heck of a high school football player too.

IMHO, Coach Jonathan Smith has more market value than Dickert. I was snooping a USC board the other day and one of their fans asked what it would take to get Coach Smith away from Oregon State. Nobody asked about Dickert. It's comical how sometimes USC fans obsess with Oregon State. They're going to miss us. Here's a recent link on the possibility of Dickert to MSU. Note there's a video at this link of a conversation between Dickert & Canzano, and Canzano appears to have published this conversation on October 17th. But it ends with Dickert talking about getting ready to play Oregon State. Have fun with that. The article is dated October 19th: fansided.com/posts/michigan-state-rumors-wazzu-coach-jake-dickert-denies-spartans-interest-01hd416cxx1mI found a couple of other links to very recent (1 or 2 days old) articles that link Canzano's video that ends with Dickert talking about getting ready for Oregon State... I'll search some more tomorrow as the "Dickert to MSU" rumor is certainly worth following. I don't think losing Dickert would be a huge blow to OSU's & WSU's efforts to rebuild the PAC-12, but it certainly doesn't help. I hope Dickert stays in Pullman. I would be more concerned about Lincoln Riley going to the NFL and USC going after JS. He grew up a USC fan. Hopefully, he doesn’t want to raise his kids there. Hopefully, Mrs. Smith doesn't want to raise her kids there.

What is JS making here? $3.5M? Maybe he could get 10M in LA. But if you want to create generational wealth for your family, 3.5 does that. If OSU provides a realistic chance to reach the 12-team playoffs in more than a "once in a blue moon" frequency, he probably doesn't bolt. That's assuming he and his family like the Corvallis lifestyle and don't have some desire to trade that for a Mcmansion in Hermosa Beach or Palos Verdes.

Canzano correlated Dickerts war with GameDay to Wazzu's struggles......he essentially said that Smiths "we can't control this...we will just continue to prepare for football games" mentality was the correct approach.....filtering out the noise, and distractions.....just thought is was an interesting take.

I know Smith grew up a USC fan, but I can't picture him in that sleazeball world, coaching that sleazeball team.

If someone like usc came calling on Mr Smith, I believe a guy named Riley and a guy named Erickson may give Mr Smith some sage advice Also I think 9r does well in Corvallis because Corvallis is a good fit for him, and he is a good fit for Corvallis? Los Angeles? Probably not

I remember someone here saying Coach Tinkle was a good fit here too. Riiiight!

Actually some here will surprised at this... WT is a "good fit" in Corvallis & OSU. He's in over his head as a recruiter & developing talent. Unfortunately "CEO" type HC's need awesome assistants. He's been surrounded by "yes men". He needed a fresh, young upstart recruiter early on. And, I think ER will help a ton with developing kids. Best hire WT made.

Do you have any recollection of WT as a player? I remember Reveno. Besides being big, he mostly could not play. If you think he is good at developing young players, my thought is, maybe it's because he had very little natural ability and had to drill fundamentals non-stop to get a Stanford scholarship and play a little. So then I thought if Reveno had played in the Big Sky instead of the PAC maybe he would have averaged 14 ppg or so. Or conversely, if WT played in the PAC I would remember him as a near zero talent type guy. Maybe ER and WT were fairly equal as players. Anyway, I'm rambling. Why do you think Reveno is good at development? As a side note, I think my first memory of WT is when I went to a Portland State/Montana game in early 2011 and thought the Montana coach was huge.
