Great to see the OSU President on the sidelines. Support starts at the top. Great photo.

President Murthy is the best thing to happen to OSU in some time.

Had the pleasure of spending some time with her one on one a few weeks back. She is a brilliant, bad ass woman...and more importantly, she gets it.

If I may expand my remark somewhat, I've had the opportunity to work with her a few times this past year, and to observe her up close in a number of other administrative and outreach settings/events. The passion you see in the photo of her on the sidelines is real. She loves this place. She is, of course, very smart AND intelligent; but more than that, she has a great ability to analyze, and put that intelligence to work developing a plan of action.
She doesn't leap in - she takes stock, figures things out, gets insight from others, and then commits to a plan of attack.
She is always asking questions, learning every day something new about Beaver Nation, about Oregon, about anything, really. But she obviously focuses on Beaver Nation, though not myopically.
Of course, we understand that a university president should be smart; should be a listener; should be a leader - all those things. What has impressed me most about her, and has been the most refreshing part of her I enjoy being around, is that she has a great wit. Mostly it's a dry wit, but she is not dry, dull, or boring. Her with is a big part of her charm, and you quickly realize she's different. She's not a stuffed suit.
Having an inquiring, results-oriented, active leader looking at the last year with a sense of humor is why I don't worry about the next few years. Things may get a bit rough, obviously, especially in the athletics enterprise, but we're in good hands.
If you tuned in to the Board of Trustees meeting yesterday, you would have more of the same piled on from around the room as they discussed her first year and her future goals - we got to hear some of the annual review said out load.
We were lucky to have such a great board when the need to find her was upon us. We have a great board, we have a great president. We have a corps of senior administrators who all look up to her and want more than ever to serve this institution up to her level.
These are exciting times to be a part of the campus.
