I was at that game last night. It was ugly from the Get Go. Stanford scored off a corner kick about 90 seconds in, and then on a second one at around 20 minutes. The Beavers were having real trouble stringing together connecting passes, and spent a lot of the first half in their own half of the field.
The game was pretty chippy, too--8 yellow cards and 36 fouls. I thought the referee was inconsistent, letting a lot of rough stuff go, but carding 2 players, Farrington and the Stanford Keeper, for ticky tack stuff. At one point, it looked like a fight would break out, which points to the inconsistent officiating.
The Beavers came out with some purpose in the second half, but conceded a third goal at around an hour, which essentially ended the game. Tough night for the Beavs.
