Big 10 was a no on UW and Oregon right up until they weren't.

Not really what the story is about...it basically talks about a couple tweets from Jim Williams and Brett McMurphy and then wraps up with IF certain things don't happen, then OSU and WSU are headed to merge with the MWC. It really doesn't support any opinion. Personally, I find Williams' tweet to be much more interesting. And yes, he has credentials, unlike those podcasters on both sides of the argument.

JFC. This story loses what little shred of credibility it had in the very first paragraph.
In the months following the liquidation of the Pac-12, two of its members are still wondering what their future holds, and if having FBS athletic programs will continue to be a staple of their makeup.
NO ONE has ever suggested we will drop down to FCS. This story is total garbage.
The Big Ten had fully vetted Washington and Oregon State but had determined it wasn't going to expand any more before FOX tipped the scales toward another round of expansion by deciding to break up the conference once and for all and (temporarily) stymie Apple by throwing $70 million more into the pot. There is no evidence whatsoever they've done any kind of a dive, much less the deep dive necessary to invite us.
We're not going to the Big 10. We're not going to the ACC. It would be an out-and-out miracle at this point to receive an invitation from the Big 12, we'd have to have photos of the commish and the 14 presidents in compromising positions.

But, even reading this board, I do understand why OSU and WSU admins have to show they tried everything they could. Part of this process and what they should do..

Putting on my tin foil hat, I can see the Big 12 finding a spot for OSU/WSU if ESPN/Fox decide there is something to gain from killing off the Pac12. As in, they are looking at the long term picture and gauging whether CBS or Apple gains a foothold in a market they have a strangle hold on by funding a West Coast based league with a TV deal that keeps them competitive with the big boys back east.

In reality to "kill off" the Pac2 (assuming a court win) would not be possible unless ESPN/Fox are willing to pony up $40mil+ per year to each OSU and WSU. The CFP contract is to be negotiated soon, but goes thru the 2025 title game. Last season each P5 conference received ~$80 mil to be split. OSU/WSU will remain a P5 conference unless WSU Prez decised to shoot his own school in their financial foot?! So, not counting future NCAA hoop units the Pac2 will be due to receive $40mil+ each over the next two CFP seasons. Unless that figure, which is more than the B12 receives now, is reached why would the Pac2 agree to head into the B12? The Pac2 reverse merger with the MWC might not be popular, but it does assure plenty of revenue and some leverage as the new CFP contract is negotiated. OSU/WSU can included all the current MWC, get a decent increase on their current level from CBS, Fox, Apple, combo there of, and see what happens in 3 years. At that time they will still be a CFP payee as a P5 conference with NCAA units still owed. So even with a smaller media deal for the three seasons they will have money to sustain and see what is happening. Of course it all hinges on the court case, or future cases. If OSU/WSU lose control of Pac12 revenues completely then the MWC reverse merger might be the only lifeboat they have to have any revenue other than the 12-way split.

I’m convinced all of these articles are conjecture based on the writer’s thoughts at the time, and are a complete waste of time. There’s most likely more well thought out, knowledgeable scenarios posted here by our own members.
